The video gives a personal insight on how having an individual that is certified on sports medicine ultimately provides the students with the correct care for their injuries. If not treated on sight, the chances of permanent injury could rise up noticeably. Overall, the thought of becoming a school athletic trainer has never really came to mind, but after watching the video it made me reconsider the idea of not becoming one. The bonds they make with the students seems to be one to remember for a life-time. Furthermore, the video gives statistics that correlates to the need for schools to have trainers on sight. Only about 34 percent of the nation’s high schools have professional athletic trainer working for them, the other 66 percent rely on part-time physicians, emergency medical technicians, or coaches to deal with medical emergencies at games and practice. Being able to be evaluated and treated moments after an injury occurs even it is something small such as muscle soreness or a major incident such as a torn ligament, being able to correctly examine the situation could possibly refrain the injury from worsening. In addition, numbers show that a number with school districts with established athletic trainer programs report lower rates of injuries among student athletes.
