A reason for that is that most other schools lump their international population into the minority population so that their minority population looks higher than actually is. Diverse interests are provided to the Thiel College Students by the Thiel World Organization. The ways that Thiel College tries to fulfill its commitment to diversity is to offer a Soul Food Festival provided by Thiel World Organization. Dining halls provide a soul food and vegan section. Talking with the Human Resource office for advice and having written documentation supporting the decision to terminate will help with the transition and decision making process as well as seeking legal advice. Firing a coach can be a little more difficult because stakeholder can directly or indirectly get involved in the decision making process, it is essential for the athletic director to consult with the higher administration. The athletic director should keep in mind the needs of the student athlete and how they will take the news of the termination. Title IX was the stepping-stone for mergers and sports, but immediately after the merging took place, women were fully discriminated against. When men and women's sports combined, it opened new administrative positions for women, but what these women found were that they were constantly being pushed down to the bottom of the pile, to the least authoritative positions. Men were the head coaches, and the head of the physical education departments Men organized the teams schedule for the season and organized practice hours. Also, "male sexist attitudes ensured that male rather than female athletic directors and heads of physical education departments were almost automatically appointed to direct merged departments" (Hult p.96) This male over female preference continued right up to today. As of 1992 there are more men in administrative sports positions than women.…

As an Accounting major, I am very interested and have become fond of learning about the varying business aspects within the sports industry. As a result, I decided to conduct my interview with a professional that is associated with the business operations of athletics. The person that I interviewed was Dawn Reynolds, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance here at the University of Miami. After initially getting in contact with Ms. Reynolds a few weeks ago, I was finally able to meet with her briefly and conduct my interview on November 30, 2010, in room 261 in the Hecht Athletics Center. Just to give a bit of background information about Ms. Reynolds, she is from Elmira, New York and now currently resides in Coral Gables, Florida. She graduated from the University of Miami with a major in Finance and started her career at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia where she worked for four years as their budget coordinator. As a past president of the College Athletics Business Managers Association, she was named the College Athletic Business Manager of the Year in 2003 and has since served on various committees including the ACC Finance Committee and chairs the NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee. She has worked with the University of Miami for the past 20 years and is currently the Chief Fiscal Officer for the Department and is a member of the executive management team. Below is a list of ten questions and answers from the interview I conducted:…

They provide structure and are the heart and souls of each team. Coaches have to love the game. The team reflects the coach, if he’s successful so will you be. The coach needs to be disciplined and teach the fundamentals of the game. They should instill moral values into the team.…
