Athletes Should Not Get Paid
NCAA, its generates billions of dollars in revenue every year from tickets to selling merchandise. Should NCAA pay their athletes? No, because they already get free things from their sponsors, they get paid by their education, last but not least it will trouble other non-generating revenue clubs.
The first reason why athletes should not get paid is because they already get free things from their sponsors to their fans. “The NCAA athletes get paid with psychology classes, track suits, knee braces, and ice baths.” This proves that the athletes get free stuff some of it that they don’t even use. Also the more popular you get the more fans you have and more sponsorship you have which means more money/gifts. Another reason why they shouldn’t get

    From the money colleges make off of athletic events, the athletes performance is a major contribution to this profit made. The most recent year that the revenue made by the NCAA is available is 2011-2012. That year, the NCAA made $871.6 million. This money is distributed to many groups involved in the process of the NCAA and programs affiliated with it. However, the most important group in this process, the players, fail to receive any income from this revenue. This revenue is received by a couple of different sources. These categories of sources include contributions facilities make, sales and services, officials, investments, championships, and largest of all: television and marketing rights fees. These athletes are involved in these athletic events just as much as or more than any coach, manager, owner, broadcaster, or anyone else associated with these sporting events.
