Athletes Should Get Paid Essay
Imagine this: you are in the military force, you risk your life on a day-to-day basis for our country's freedom. If you survive fighting, you sleep on an uncomfortable, rock hard bed and eat nauseating food. You work your tail off, yet you actually make less than the average American does yearly. Now, take into perspective, perhaps a professional boxer: they may risk their lives, but it's for our entertainment, not for our safety. When they are done wrestling, they go back to their five star hotels and eat gourmet food. They train, and yes, they may have worked hard to get to where they are, but they're out here making millions per fight, which is way more than what the average American makes. Look closer, should an entertainer really get paid such a profound amount for one fight, rather than those who work to …show more content…
Playing a sport or being able to act isn't something that changes lives; coming up with a cure for cancer would be something that changes lives extraordinarily. So many of these people who are actually trying to make a difference in people's lives go to four or more difficult years of college, work hours on top of hours and get little to no sleep, just in order to pursue their careers, yet they're not rewarded with millions of dollars to purchase expensive homes and cars. Celebrities and athletes simply go out and play a worthless game or perform in a hall filled with fans, and they're getting paid millions for that one venue. How can so many people claim that this is life-changing? Entertainers should not be paid such a ridiculously large amount of money solely to perform.

In conclusion, entertainers should not be paid the profound amount of money that they receive, because that money doesn't go towards bettering our society, it's not that troublesome of work, and their profession doesn't remarkably change anyone's

When people think about “Stars”(celebrities) they only see what they do on screen, on stage, or on a playing field, but what they don’t see is what happens behind closed doors. Professional athletes, coaches, singers, and actors, and actress have great things to offer other than their job to entertain us. Many people don’t realize this because they choose to only look at what they want to see and not what they should see. Some people think it’s unfair that athletes even get paid. Many think that if someone gets payed more that the president, that's unjust. But in reality, we know that they're wrong. It’s not like people are handing out money for free. Athletes earn their money, just like adults earn their money when they work. Athletes just earn their money in a different way. And like Mackenzie said, “The works of professional athletes certainly pay off for us. Shouldn’t it pay off for them…

Although some may disagree about athletes getting paid more than 10 million dollars they do hard work for that money. I think that they should not be paid almost 10 million dollars because that type of money can go to homeless people and kids they can go to kids to get their diploma to go to college and get a good job.…

Even though athletes are amazing at what they do best, They also make too much money just for hitting a ball or running up and down the field like that. It's very unethical that football players make a lot more money in a month than the military does in a whole year. The military is risking their lives for us to have freedom and peace. Football players make millions of dollars a year and the military only make about ten thousand a year. People ought to do something about this…

Texas universities like Texas State are recognized through their sport rankings and their star athletes’ performance on the field. The role athletes play in the production of profit from merchandise, ticket sales, and advertising has created the question: Should athletes get paid? Based out of “Student athletes deserve payment in multimillion-dollar industry”, published in the University Star, as the main text describes the reasons why athletes should be paid. The editorial staff argues about the profit the NCAA makes, how athletic scholarships work, and how some athletes come from low income families with the hopes of building better lives for themselves and their families. Readers can use “Student athletes deserve a piece of the pie, too”…

This happens for the fact that, again, the people in this country tend to care about having fun rather than anything else. Another reason as to why the amount of money that athletes receive is ludicrous is that, “...retired athletes can go on to have lucrative jobs,” (Edelman 24). Being involved in lucrative jobs means always making tons of money, and more than almost everyone else. “...there are plenty of people who have difficult and dangerous jobs, and no one is handing them exorbitant amounts of money,” (Edelman 24). As to why people do not pay people who work strenuously becomes lost upon the vast majority of people, but I believe that it is for the fact that no one actually cares about them. All in all, the fact that people who gallop around all day, and still acquire millions of dollars, is a truly disturbing truth that burdens us…

The sport industry is one of the largest industries in the United States, meaning it brings in the most revenue. But, aren’t the players actually the ones bringing the money in? The spectators are paying a big amount of money for their tickets and not to mention paying even more on foods, drinks and sporting attire. Since athletes are bringing in almost $11 billion a year, it is only fair to pay them. Being a part of such a large industry, people expect athletes to perform as professional athletes do. High expectations mean athletes have to be committed and willing to put in the long time consuming hours and hard work. This is an all day everyday commitment that leaves you with no free time or anytime at all to go out and get a job so that you can support yourself. People say it is only fair that college athletes get paid so that they can make a living and support their self.…

The premiere athletes of today’s sports can make upwards of 30 millions dollars in one year. This alone can raise some eyebrows. Now take into account that this amount of money is 75 times as much money as the President of the United States made last year. The President, by their pay, is less important than an athlete, like a LeBron James, but this couldn’t be any further from the truth. Compared to an actual beneficial job, like teaching, the athletes we gladly shell out millions of dollars for are very overpaid.…

I agree that our athletes are being paid too much money for what they do compared to other jobs in our society. I agree that teachers should definitely be paid a higher salary since if we did not have teachers, our future would become a look-alike of our past since students are our future. This topic ties to other major entertainers in society such as movie actors and television program hosts who are also paid too much for their value in our world. There is no balance if athletes are paid over fifty million a year and those who sacrifice their lives every day to perform their jobs aren’t even paid a fraction of it. I think that even if their attitudes are to change, and they become positive role models that are truly valued by society, they do not deserve the salary they have and the system needs to…

Imagine you were doing your favorite activity, playing on your favorite sports team, or working at your dream job and the opposite gender is making more money than you are for doing the exact same thing, how would that make you feel? These are some situations where men and women are not being paid equally for working at the same thing. Gender equality is a big issue in the sports world especially for women because they are mistreated. Women athletes should make the same amount of money as men athletes because they both have dedicated their lives to their sport, represent the same brands, and work just as hard.…

In my opinion, athletes are way overpaid. They are only playing a game against another team and they get paid thousands of dollars just to do so when people who save other people’s lives don’t get paid enough. On the other hand, we sometimes take the time out of our day to watch people play football, basketball, baseball, etc. We stand in front of our TV to watch and cheer them on. They play for us.…

Some americans however believe they dont deserve all that they get .For me i cant say they make to much or just enough because some celebrities are famous for being famous if you can understand that; for instance they might have a famous family member and they become famous because of that , But for all the celebrities that get it and worked for it they do deserve all that they make .It takes hard work and determination ,you cant be afraid to get up in front of thousands of people and make a fool of youself sometimes, and celebrities must like to bring joy because they bring people up when their down they provide a distractiion from the hard times and might make you even happier when you already happy the affect they have on people not just americans is amazing .…

There are definitely people more deserving of high salaries than a professional athlete. The president of the United States, who has one of the toughest jobs in the nation, makes nowhere near as much as an athlete. Barack Obama makes around $400,000 a year while Alex Rodriguez makes around $33 million a year. Another job that affects the lives of almost every American is the job of a school teacher. School teachers are very deserving of high pay and yet the average income of a high school teacher is only $43,437. That is only a mere fraction of what some of…
