Assignment 4: Art Impressionism
1. 1872, Monet, Claude, French, Impression:Sunrise, Oil on canvas, Impressionism. TXT- Monet presents his artwork through fragmented brushstrokes and the his subjects are described as phantasmic because of the loose pieces of color that are not distinguished. His paintings are known for capturing the moments in life to define the aspects in his composition and be able to create a scene of vibrating movements. Pg 30
CLS- His purpose for this painting was to obtain optical realism and to play with light on a surface of an object. Also this image lacks a sense of form because there’s no modeling involved.
2. 1876, Renoir, Auguste, French, Moulin de la Galette, Oil on canvas, Impressionism.

Also we can that everyone’s enjoying their afternoon on a Sunday because people around this time work six days a week and they look forward Sunday and appreciate the relaxation.
3. 1876, Moreau, Gustave,The Apparition, French, Oil on canvas, Symbolism.
TXT- This painting describes a femme fatale dancing among a bloody head of a baptist named John. Also the detail on the princess represents jewelry like texture of rich colors that highlights her body and the floating head. This piece was to evoke that women can be just as deadly as man can be from the description in the composition. Pg 50
CLS- This work of art implies that women are fatal and to be not taken so lightly. Also to see the destruction of women through the act of dismemberment as the viewer can see from the gory head of a man.
4. 1883, Jenney, William Le Baron, Home Insurance Building, Chicago, Architecture.
TXT- This skyscraper was created with an inner metal skeleton to bear the weight of the outer structure giving it form and shape. The metal frames is what actually holds everything in place and together, which helped push future architectures to progress in further building. Pg
