One of my goals is to promote healthy habits. To establish and maintain a healthy environment is to prevent the spread of germs and promote healthy eating habits. Germs can be easily spread among the age group of children in my care, because they are in close contact with each other. One of the ways I promote a healthy environment is hand washing. I wash my hands and wear gloves before and after handling food, helping with toileting, changing diapers and cleaning noses. I have the children wash their hands during similar times and ensure that they do it properly. Cleaning and sanitizing play areas daily and mouthed toys are immediately removed from the play area and sanitized at the end of the day. I teach the children about healthy eating on a daily basis. At lunch and snack time we talk about the healthy foods and not so healthy foods that they are eating and what food is best for their growing bodies. I have two weeks of lesson…

Early years settings can have a mass amount of security such as buzzers and identity cards. Buzzers are used so only the staff members can leave and enter the setting at any time they can and need to. This also prevents strangers wandering into the setting. Staff members should also have ID cards, CRB checks all that they are fully qualified to work within that setting. Also, if any other person is to collect a child from the nursery, the parents would need to ring up in advance to alert the staff otherwise if the carer comes into the setting to collect a child, the receptionist would need to ring the parents first to see if it was okay for that person to collect the child, otherwise the parent would normally have to collect that child.…
