Aspirin Synthesis Report
To prevent the previously discussed risks related to the equipment and substances used in the synthesis reaction, safety procedures were discussed with the teacher, the fume cupboard was used, hands were washed, correct disposal procedures were followed, Disinfectant was used to wipe down benches, no flammable or loose clothing was worn, long hair was tied back, no naked flames were used, the safety shower and eye bath was available, first aid facilities were available, required spill management equipment was easily accessible, chemsorb dry agent absorbents was accessible, covered shoes were worn, disposable nitrile gloves were worn, safety glasses and vinyl aprons were worn and the experiment was supervised by SOO presence.
Equipment
The equipment required to complete the experiment is; 3 hot water baths which can hold 3 test tubes in a rack set to 30, 50 and 80 degrees Celsius, A scale accurate to 0.001g, 9 plastic shot glasses, permanent marker, 5mL pipette, 1mL pipette, 2 metal spatulas, metal tweezers, 3 large beakers to hold ice
