Asbestos was used for insulation from 1930s to 1950s and in textured paint till 1977. It has since been linked to lung cancer, and government regulation has reduced its use in buildings and products. However, some old homes and buildings may still have asbestos material. If you are renovating an old building it is advised that you ask the contractor to check for any asbestos material and remove it.
