This movie presents all the elements of an award wining motion picture. It shows the best out of comedy, romance, drama, sarcasm, love, hate, and life changing experiences. We have characters like Mr. Melvin Udall, Carol Connelly, and Simon Bishop are so real, just like you and me. There is people out there just like them, they did not over acted what made the movie a more realistic experience out of the ordinary.

The story develops in New York city with this old man who is also a writer, that suffers Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and added to his cranky personality makes him a unique person, Mr. Melvin Udall, who lives in an apartment.

His neighbor is gay, Simon Bishop, who owns a dog named Verdell. After a few happenings Simon gets involved with some guys that posed naked for him, he was an artist, and they play it bad on him braking into his house and stealing from him and on top of that, the beat him almost to death, his critical condition made him stayed on the hospital for a few weeks and Mr. Udall is forced to stay taking care of the dog, which he hated to death.

One thing led to the other and he started liking the dog, so much that he got all sad when Simon got back home and ask for the dog back. Mr. Udall had been going to have a meal every day at this restaurant where Carol Connelly was the waitress. He always wanted her attention and when he finally got it he messed it up. The movie that I choose to watch was “As Good as it Gets” by James L. Brooks. The character that I will be discussing is Melvin Udall played by Jack Nicholson. Melvin Udall is a novelist from New York that is working on another one of his books. To his readers, Udall may seem to be a normal person however; he is struggling to do everything right in his life. He has the symptoms of a person dealing with obsessive-compulsive disorder. This is exemplified by his obsession with developing a loving relationship. He has not found love of his own, and that is why he is so obsessed with eating at the same restaurant in the same seat with the same waitress because this is the only steady interaction he has with another person. When the waitress is not at work one day it causes Udall to realize that he has a problem and goes to visit his therapist but since he neglected to schedule an appointment he is turned away which causes more anxiety. With the anxiety of not having his usually scheduled meal at the restaurant, he finds out where the waitress lives to go talk to her and tell her how she messed up his day. When Udall arrives at the waitresses home, Udall find out that the reason Carol was not at work is because her son suffers from a sever case of asthma that causes him to be really sickly. Though Udall had at one point made rude comments about Carol’s son’s health he later pays for the young boy to be seen by a good doctor, which happens to be his publisher’s husband. The only stipulation is that Carol return to work in order for the medical bills to be paid. Paying the medical bills is a nice gesture to Carol and she thanks Udall but he feels that her thank you letter is unnecessary; because it was something he had to do for him to have his regular meal. In another part of the movie when some strangers assault Udall’s neighbor, Simon, Udall is asked by Simon’s art manager to take Simon to…

Everyone has quirks that make him or her an individual. We filter through life, attempting to seamlessly weave our oddities into a “normal” person. As difficult as trying to fit circles into squares, the silver lining in these valiant attempts is that the “normal” person doesn’t exist. That is what writer-director David O. Russell understood when making The Silver Linings Playbook, The film is a fantastic study in how our individual quirks, though varying in degree, have the ability to render all of us completely insane.…

Squirrel, the stray dog, was born in a barn behind the Merion’s house along with her brother, Bone. Without little human contact they must find ways to survive on their own. They meet many friends throughout their life and must gather food from the garbage to eat. Throughout the story, Squirrel and Bone go on many exciting journeys only to find out they will soon be separated. “…but no Mother, I knew that she was not going to come back at all” (Martin pg. 27). Spoken by Squirrel in a soft voice, knowing her mother wouldn’t return. After being separated from her mom, Squirrel is soon separated by Bone too. She then meets another dog named Moon. During their time together they meet up with different people that teach them brutal lessons along the way. Also, they experience many dangerous events that are in the way of making their lives better. The abuse they take at mercy on a daily basis is shocking and touches the heart of many people. “…and then I watched as George, sweating, yanked Bone by the scruff of his neck and tossed him through the open window of the car” (Martin pg. 52). This shows only the beginning of what strays go through, needing help from humans is what they need but often not what they get. The two of…
