artificial intelligence
Topic Outline:

Purpose:To inform my audience about the development of Artificial Intelligence.

Thesis:Artificial Intelligence has developed over the years and will continue to develop as the years go progress. Today i will explain the progression of Artificial intelligence from 13th century until now.

Introduction
I. Before i explain any further…. we must first need to know what artificial intelligence is

II. Artificial Intelligence or AI is a computer, robot, or other mechanical device programmed to perform functions similar to learning and decision making.

III. The erudite roots of Artificial Intelligence was said to be traced all way back into Greek Mythology ,which was stated by AITopics.(transition:lets go back about 800 years ago, around the 13th Century).

(According to Simulacra- Haskins Laboratories), during the 13th century, one of the earliest machines with Artificial Intelligence were known as Talking heads.

a. Talking heads were brass mechanical heads that were capable of speaking.

b. The first talking head was created by a Philosopher named Albert Magnus round the 13th century.(transition: there were no inventions in the 14th century, the 15th century had a key invention that revolutionized A

3.during the 15th century... one of the major artificial intelligent machines were printing using movable type.

a. the first movable printing ,also known as the printing press, was created by Johann Gutenburg in 1450, according to (Inventor of the week archive).

b. This was such an historical invention because before the printing press ...most of the books were written and copied by hand,...the printing press made it easier to write and copy using movable blocks of letters and graphics

3.In the time of 19th century another amazing invention Joseph- Marie Jacquard called the Jacquard Loom
a. french inventor

b. used complex patterns

1.brocade
2. damask

3. matelasse

When I became interested in computer science, one of the areas that intrigued me the most was that of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI was futuristic back when I first attended college and the ideas that surrounded it seemed unattainable and unrealistic. Today the development of AI has been achieved and continues to grow and expand into new uses.…

Artificial intelligence is a complex subject that requires some background information to fully understand. One of the earliest definitions of "true" artificial intelligence was proposed by Alan Turing with the Turing Test. The idea behind this test was to have a human ask both a computer and a human a series of questions and then see if the tester could tell which was the computer. The AI did not necessarily need to answer all the questions correctly, it just had to give an answer similar to that a human would give. The test would also be done via text so that the computer would not have problems with mimicking human speech. Very few AIs have passed the test with the first occurring in 2012 as it was judged to be human 52 percent of the time. The other major factor in determining a true artificial intelligence was the Chinese Room Experiments by John Searle as an expansion of the Turing Test. In this experiment, Searle wanted to test whether an intelligence was actually interpreting language or just…

Within the realm of Artificial Intelligence there are several secs which are responsible for making up that which is A.I. Normally when an individual thinks of Artificial Intelligence a few things come to mind such as the HAL 9000 system, known as “the inimitable star of the classic Kubrick and Clarke film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’”(Picard 2001), others will think of the movie “Blade Runner”, this film featured an alternate future where a group of individuals were responsible for tracking down cyborg humans known as “Sims” which were so human like they actually were unaware that they weren’t actually humans (Scott, Fancher et al. 2007). These films come to mind because until the late 2000’s this was the closest we ever got to Artificial Intelligence…

The fate of the world may lay at the hands of artificial intelligence. We might need its help to fight against a super virus or stop global warming, or we also could be victims of a genocide. It depends on my research question: how can we harness the possible positives of A.I. without the potentially disastrous outcome? Through research of the limits and ethics of machines and artificial general intelligence, I will determine the path we should take with artificial…

Often the debate is limited to what the pros and cons of AI would be, rather than focusing on whether AI will happen in the first place. This different angle on the AI debate, however, must be held up to the same scrutiny as the proponents and opponents of AI are held to. There are some strong arguments made in this article. However, what Walsh fails to see in his prediction that humans will never create artificial intelligence is the history of innovation. History has shown time and time again that innovation triumphs over its…

In Turing’s paper, “Computing Machinery and Intelligence,” he presents the Turing test, which examines whether a machine can display intelligent behavior equal to the intelligent behavior of a human. Turing also ponders the question, “can machines think,” as he is an advocate of artificial intelligence. Turing states the nine common objections against artificial intelligence and attempts to disprove them. The most convincing objection to artificial intelligence is objection three, the mathematical objection.…

artificial intelligence research and the philosophy of mind is its emphasis on the formal system of deduction and premises and propositional knowledge. Hubert and Stuart Dreyfus argue that this formal system of deduction is one of the problems with traditional epistemology, since much of our sense of judgment and the process which we go through to form beliefs is not a matter of starting with premises and by plugging them into a formula in order to deduct conclusions. But rather it is a gradual process that involves being embodied in different ways and developing skills that would make it possible for us to deal with the world. By explaining the five stages that an individual goes through in order to become an expert, Dreyfus and Dreyfus justify their point of view on the topic of…

Much later, the Royal courts of Enlightenment-age Europe were endlessly amused by mechanical ducks and humanoid figures, crafted by clockmakers. It has long been possible to make machines that looked and moved in human-like ways - machines that could spook and awe the audience - but creating a model of the mind was off limits.…

The seeds of modern AI were planted by classical philosophers who attempted to describe the process of human thinking as the mechanical manipulation of symbols. This work culminated in the invention of the programmable digital computer in the 1940s, a machine based on the abstract essence of mathematical reasoning. This device and the ideas behind it inspired a handful of scientists to begin seriously discussing the possibility of building an electronic brain.…

In this paper, I will discuss the arguments for AI and the counter-arguments against AI and provide facts and information for both stands. I will also discuss the political, religious, ethical, and moral implication of this issue. I will first evaluate and explain what exactly merits an entity as intelligent and where the “felt qualities” belong and how they are important to the title of intelligence. I then explain the famous Turing Test and how it is used to test a machines capability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from that of a human. Afterwards, I will give a brief history and summary of the origins of AI, as well as the arguments for AI and the counter-arguments against AI.…
