Article Review Nasa Curiosity
Article Review NASA/JPL, “NASA rover finds old streambed on martian surface”. Astronomy. September, 2012. The article I’m writing about is about the NASA Curiosity Rover and how it’s doing on its trip to mars. The reason that NASA has sent this rover is to find potential signs of life on the surface of mars. They are trying to find evidence that there once has been enough resources to have any kind of life on mars. NASA has sent a rover to Mars called the Curiosity Rover. It is on its way to the slope of Mount Sharp in Gale Crater which is the rovers’ destination. On the way to the stopping point it has discovered something nobody thought would ever be in space. The Curiosity rover found evidence that a stream once ran vigorously across the area on Mars where the rover is driving. Scientists in charge of the rovers’ journey are studying pictures of stones cemented into a layer of conglomerate rock. "From the size of gravels it carried, we can interpret the water was moving about 3 feet [0.9 meter] per second, with a depth somewhere between ankle and hip deep," said by William Dietrich. The shapes of the rocks tell you they were transported and the size of them tell you that wind didn’t transport them. The shapes also tell you that the stream was flowing for a-long period of time and not just a couples years. NASA is finding materials on mars that are potential ingredients of life. The reason why the stream the rover has found is good because a stream could be habitable environment, which potentially means signs of life. People for years have been wondering and asking themselves if there really is some sort of life form anywhere else in the universe. I mean, the universe is huge so why not? Knowing that the NASA Curiosity Rover has found evidence that there once was a stream flowing vigorously across the surface of Mars. People can now see that there actually is a good chance that there is or has been life other than on the earth. If the scientist are

Yesterday, the 8 orange team went to the Conodoguinet Creek for class. We went there to see the velocity of objects running down the stream. We got water samples to see what the alkalinity levels were in the creek. Finally, the last thing that we did was pick up rocks and brought them to shore to see if there were any macroinvertebrates that were attached to the rock. That is why our class went to the Conodoguinet creek yesterday.…

My science fiction paper will chronicle the Mars rover Opportunity’s time on the planet Mars from a first-person viewpoint. Opportunity will describe the destitute land of an empty planet and crippling loneliness as its twin, Spirit, gets stuck and ceases communication in 2010 [1]. Finally, Opportunity will reflect on the hope it has for its wellbeing as the Curiosity rover lands on Mars in 2012 [2], only to realize that its mission is not yet over, and it has to continue wandering the red planet alone. This story will deal with the ideas of spectra as Opportunity researches the light given off by sources on Mars’ surface, jet propulsion in terms of how Opportunity made it to…

I really liked pictures and cameras so I would like to look at pictures of Mars and wondered what it would be like to take pictures of Mars. My dad worked as a camera engineer for HP at the time, so I got a lot of exposer to taking pictures with the test cameras and figuring out how they operated. This article relates class because we have been learning about the elements the planets are made of. Implications can lead uniformed people to think that the environment on mars is possible for life, however, Mars has a very extreme environment and lacks a thicker atmosphere for life to be sustained. I do not know enough about Mars to dispute any of the points in the article, however I thought it was cool that NASA is researching the possibility of life on Mars. I wonder if there are any other planets like Mars. What would Mars look like if it currently had life? Why do people feel lonely about the possibility that we are the only…

That makes areas like the Atacama great spots to work on searching for life on Mars. In the occasion that fossil life on Mars looked like Chile Atacama desert, it could reveal insight into our own sources. Touchdown was confirmed that the Curiosity rover has landed safely on the surface. A specific process took the rover down safely to its new home on Mars. A process that involved nothing going wrong and the “The rover touched down about two kilometres east of the centre of the ellipse that flight engineers were aiming for, in the north-west quadrant of Gale Crater” (Grossman). The rover landed exactly how it should have with its front wheels facing south and the forward hazard camera facing the mountain. The rover was on looking a sixteen thousand foot high mountain near the crater in which researchers believed could hold secrets on whether Mars is or was habitable. In addition to why the rover landed in the Gale crater is because since it was believed that the crater was once struck with an Antarctic meteor, scientists believe from previous studies that it was filled with water millions of years ago. The day the Mars rover landed, was a moment marked for…

Sending Curiosity, a space rover, to mars is much more difficult than sending people into outer space for 2 major reasons: the amount of collaboration/effort and planning. NASA said that this mission “introduced the world to one of the most daring, inventive feats of engineering the world had ever witnessed: the pinpoint landing of NASA's Curiosity rover on Mars.” In addition, “no mission this ambitious had ever been attempted in the past” and “the landing presented problems that could not be compared directly to anything done before.”…

There was a specific event that inspired Wells. In 1894 Mars was positioned particularly closely to Earth, leading to a great deal of observation and discussion. Italian astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli had reported seeing "canali" on Mars, meaning "channels," but the term was mistranslated as "canals," leading to much speculation about life on the red planet. [Although scientists were able eventually to photograph what seem to be large stream beds on Mars, these are on a much smaller scale than the blobs and blotches which misled Schiaparelli into thinking he had seen channels.] One of the 1894 observers, a M. Javelle of Nice, claimed to have seen a strange light on Mars, which further stimulated speculation about life there. Wells turned Javelle into Lavelle of Java, an island much on people's minds because of the explosion there in 1883 of Mount Krakatoa, which killed 50,000 people and drastically influenced Earth's climate for the next year.…

NASA does a “lot of different things” including looking for extraterrestrial life (NASA budget cuts, 2013). NASA has been on a mad hunt to try and find new life. A big accomplishment for NASA is that they have been able to find old microorganisms on Mars. This suggests that there has once been life on Mars. They are trying their hardest to try and get people living Mars. They have set up a program that allows people to sign up to live on Mars.…

What exactly is a key? One may say, “Oh it is an object that unlocks doors, locks, cars, boxes, etc.” But to me, a key is so much more than just a tool to unlocking the lockable. Each key unlocks the unknown. Have you ever gone to an antique shop just to look at the keys and wondered where did they come from? Or who had it? Or did it unlock riches? For many people, none of this is a thought that passes through their mind when viewing the keys, but this is the process that goes through my head when I see a key. This may seem odd to some, but each person to his/ her.…
