Article Review: Girl wasted under DHS care
As I read about what was done to Danieal I wanted to curse someone out. Who are these people who think its okay for a child to die with no one there to comfort her? This should have been a red flag first and foremost. Why weren’t the bed sores and the bugs and the malnutrition brought up when she was still alive? She was being visited twice a week from workers (so they say) and hadn’t thought to clean her wounds enough that there were maggots in them when officials found her?! Who are these people and why are they caring for others? This is pure negligence and carelessness in its rawest form. Obviously every single one of the case workers, care providers, and most of all her mother are all responsible for this death. There was no child advocate or relative to speak up on her behalf and defend her. No, this innocent child had to die because certain “professionals” on any level decided not to care. Why does a child have to die in order for ‘the system” to want to do something? Everything in this case was swept under the rug and I don’t think anything was ever documented. Her mother needed to fight for her! If the case worker wasn’t visiting she should have been on the phone or down at the DHS telling them what was going on. I know she had other children but so do other loving caring parents and they make things happen by using their voices! If your child cannot speak for themselves then it is YOUR responsibility to speak for them! From the testimony of the mother, it seemed that the social workers and case workers on this case were belligerent and careless in their car for this child which ended in her death. This breaks my heart and puts fire in my heart to ALWAYS do better. In Charlenni’s case I feel like this was a failure on everyone’s part. The step-mother, who was simply adding fuel to the fire by continuing to beat her, should be rot in jail somewhere for helping to kill this child. Who breaks their shoulder blade?! There were several

After reading the article about Anna Stubblefield, I am extremely disturbed by the treatment that an innocent individual received. The patient’s cognitive abilities have been assessed and it was concluded that his intellectual abilities is that on the level of a child. Anybody working with children or come into contact with children has the responsibility to secure children safely. This is why current legislation, policies, guidelines and procedures to safeguard children are put into practice. The Children Act 1989 was brought on by the government in 1991 to ensure children were safe however; the death of Victoria Climbiè who died at the hands of her guardians so the Act was updated again to the Children Act 2004 and Laming did a public investigation of the death of Victoria and his report included many times Victoria Climbie could have been saved due to many establishments involved in her case were not run properly. The Act puts a role on local authorities to act together in supporting the welfare of children and young people and to safeguard as well and also, The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989 was acknowledged by the Government in 1991 and the UN includes all the privileges of children to abuse, to be able to express their opinions, to be looked after and provisions for children with a disability or away from home. But the UN is not part of the Law in the UK so despite that each administration says they refer to it as part of children…

What really surprised me was the continued neglect of these children. It just seems like such a foreign concept to me to continually neglect children. Now it appears to be an easy concept, if a child is neglected, he/she needs more attention and care. I do realize that this is often hard in situations such as children in the foster care system, so how do we give these children the right amount of attention with limited resources?…
