Art Personal Statement
This fall, I will be applying to colleges, where I hope to dual major in Visual Arts and Renaissance and Early Modern Studies or Art History. Thereafter, I hope to pursue a career that surrounds me with art and continues to inspire my own artistic expression. From early on, I was infatuated with history and museums. Art is not just a passion of mine, but an extension of who I am. I find that I bring art to most everything I do. At school, in addition to being the founding member of the Classics Club, I am a leading member of the Art Club, an art contributor to the school magazine, and I serve as art/design coordinator for my high school's award-winning FIRST Robotics team. I even bring my art to my varsity swimming team, where I designed team …show more content…
Studying graphic design, I learned about the foundational concepts of composition, typography and image manipulation by utilizing Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Additionally, I have taken classes in figure drawing and painting outside of high school at Adelphi University and Huntington Fine Art's, spending a good portion of time understanding the human form by studying and working with nude models. My passion for art is intense. My talent for creating original art is developing in concert with this passion. One did not beget the other; but, the two together produce an artistic gestalt, which I find especially rewarding to share with others. Generally, I can be a somewhat reserved person. However, when I am in, artistically speaking, a creative environment -- whether walking the halls of an art museum or painting or drawing in a studio -- an inner jauntiness seeps out. I eagerly welcome the opportunity to further develop my technical proficiencies and expand my creative practices, while maintaining my vision and sense of

Throughout the course of my junior year, I have been challenged to be the best artist of my ability. As a graphic designer, I have learned to view things in a different light and learned to express my creativity. Although I am still learning new things everyday about how to become a better artist, I have improved tremendously in every way ranging from the thought process all the way to finalizing each project, and I think that as the days go by I will continue to do well in my high school graphic design career, but in continuing my education in this major and working in a field closely related to it. I have produced at least 5 projects that reflect my passion for graphic design including the New York World’s Fair, currency recreation, and the handmade film poster from the first semester of my junior year and from the second half up until my most recent project, a book jacket, and an organic drink package design.…

Being a Computer Science major I felt that it would be a waste of time to take any art class. Prior to this course I had either a hostile or indifferent attitude towards modern/contemporary art depending on my mood. I did not think I would learn anything that would apply to my life as I was not an artist and had no aspirations to become one. As this course progressed so did my feelings towards art. Instead of indifference or hostility it now sits at slightly mild interest to indifference. I see it as a first step in the right…

As plainly as I can put it, I am a artist. The myriad of ideas and possibilities gained through art has been ingrained in me since I was a child. One of my first memories is at my grandparents house, It was a saturday morning and they had sat me in front of the television to watch cartoons on PBS. I sat there and watched the usual children shows until they were over and PBS switched to the adult shows. However, that day my attention was beakon back to the screen by a smooth calm voice, and my eyes focus on the afroed painter Bob Ross. It was from that moment I became completely infatuated with art, I would sit and watch him paint for hours and just imagine my 5 year old self being able to create these fantastical, beautiful scene with the stroke of a paint brush. I had always shown advanced art skills from the beginning, surpassing other children my age. For me, it was something I had always done, I was born with a pencil in my hand. But, it was in those hours of watching Bob Ross that…

I am fortunate enough to have grow up with an American educational system which has provided me with many opportunities that inevitably lead to my passion for digital arts and technology. From an early age, I realized that it was possible to combine many of my general interests such as drawing, calligraphy, and graphic design with the digital aspects of technology to help explore new future career opportunities for myself. Realistically, it was not until high school where I selectively decided digital media would quickly become my main area of technological interest. This was a field which allowed further exploration of my interest in drawing, pattern design, and typography through the use of programs ranging from Adobe Illustrator to Photoshop.…

I was born and raised by Parents that were not opportune to go through a formal Education of whatsoever. They vow to themselves (an unspoken vow) that I (Jibril) or any of my siblings will never pass through the same route as theirs, they sent me to the best school in Northern Nigeria ( Elkanemi College of Islamic Theology). My late mother instill the belief and the discipline in me that if a lady or a girl can make it in a classroom, she see no reason why I cannot make it. My father reminded me that he will spend his last penny as a business man to send me to the best school on the land and carter for all my moral, financial, parental and academic needs so long as I promise that I can make it to the top echelon level of academic ladder in the country. I DID JUST THAT, and my Quest and aspiration is to specialize in my God chosen career and field of study in a country where I will be given the opportunity to show what I can do. In Nigeria I saw people spending six to seven years on M sc program. Elkanemi College of Islamic theology is a Natural Science school, after my graduation from the college in 2003,I applied to study pharmacy as my first choice, it is difficult to get admission into most of the Nigerian Universities because of corruption and nepotism, you have to know a politician or a prominent academician that is ready to help you out in getting admission. My father is a business man and he knows no body in the academia or political circle, he was very frustrated but he told me never to give up, he asked me to cram a dictionary I said Ok, I took my precious time to read over three hundred and fifty English novels, with eighty of them or so by James Hadley Chase(Raymond Brabazon Rene), I re applied in 2004 but to no avail, in the 2005/2006 academic session I was lucky enough to have a politician who happens to be the former provost of Sir Kashim College of Education Maiduguri (Alhaji Maina Mahmud Mafa). On February 2006 I got admission…
