In out the term paintings describes both the act and the result of the action. This painting is made by Shen. He was born in Zhuji, Zhejiang province in 1598, during the Ming dynasty. His country name was Zhangzhou. His works we kept in the museums and galleries and over the world including the U.S. Every point in space have difficult intensity which can be represented in a painting by black and white and all grey shades as in the painting. The particular white wall has different intensity at each point due to the shades and reflections from nearby objects. The colors are highly subjective but has observable psychological effects. According to the arrangements of elements the painting is showing harmony and is light from the top but a little dark at the bottom. In my opinion the painting is beautiful because as it shows harmony in element and its contrast and its balance are used well. To represent the people the ambition of their life as what they want to achieve. To help us realize what’s important in our life. According to artist point of view, the painting represents peace and harmony. It inspires people with techniques. That people with his techniques. That help them in achieving there good in life.

While the theories on the artist intent are of plenty, there is no mistaking that this piece provokes deeper contemplation on the depiction of beauty and the power of “ugly” imagery in this painting. One can argue that over vast time periods and amongst culture the defined interpretation of beauty has seen many profound depictions and interpretations displayed in infinite works of “beautiful” art. We must ask ourselves, can only works of “beauty” be aesthetically pleasing to the eye or can we find it in a variety of work through…

The Sunset Heights composition made me feel special because I kind of know where the painting took place and I also noticed the “La X”, Juarez monument, on it too. In the other hand, there was works of art that I could not relate to and they were harder to understand. For example, Magic Bus was a complex painting and it had more variety than any other work of art in his exhibition. There is a colorful bus in the middle of the painting with people inside including a king and a queen, then outside the bus we had like circus people preforming, and there were musicians on top of the bus. Also the background was strange as well, we had the sun in one corner and the moon in the other side and there was a rainbow in between them, there was fish at the bottom and stars at the top. I took the longest in this painting, even at the end I was still confused and did not understand the purpose of this painting.…

What is the first thing you think of when modern art is declared? Random paints scattered on a blank canvas? While this is a picture-perfect example of modern art, there is more to it than just random paintings: the artist has a goal. Wherever man exists, there is art, because art is anything made or done by man that affects or moves us so that we feel and see beauty. Man uses his mind to discover a unique beauty in which the artist sees his feelings and inspiration effects on how he will express his art.…

In the late 19th centuries, because of the discovery of spectrum in physics, many artists change their artistic expression from color harmony to visual harmonic, and they pay more attention to the expression of light and color. The artwork most likely symbolize unity of social class or the absolute abandonment of it, because it a mixture of common, rich, and militarize people together on a sunny sunday. Everyone seems to belong in the painting and also even communicating together. The social class was an upset balance to systems in the past even causing revolutions like the French Revolution of 1848 where peasants created an uprising to kill all filthy rich family including children. The artwork was creating in the same 19th century supporting the fact that it may be a social class problem. As I walked around with a copy of this piece in my school bag for a week or so, I often thought about what I could possibly say about this painting/artist. Also during this time, I shared this painting with a couple of people, and asked them what they thought of the piece without telling them what it depicted. One individual stated, “They look sad about something.” Another individual stated, “The people appeared shame for some reason.” Then I informed them what the piece was and they wanted to look at it again, they were quite impressed with the work after they realized what it was about.…

When observing this painting, your eye does not first go to background, but in the far left background appears a ship with what I assume are either traders or explorers. They could be Portuguese or other European traders, perhaps even merchants from Southeast Asia or India. If the painter had painted sails on the ship, we would have a better clue as to where the ship came from; however, based on the prominent stern on the back of the boat, I will assume that it is a Chinese boat coming into port. The most successful and well-known Chinese explorer was Zheng He. Although he died before this screen was completed, his explorations helped shape the Tributary System in China: "Despite their commercial overtones, Zheng He's voyages were mere extensions of the Ming Empire's Tributary System, a system not based on profit." 4 This…

As in Noah’s Ark, there is the evidence of acknowledgment of Egyptian wall paintings which ties into African heritage. The most prominent part of the painting is the story being told through the figures in the foreground. Starting on the left, the story begins with the slave worker in the fields picking cotton. As the story transitions to the right, the figures are no longer hunching over, but are standing tall and willing to fight for their freedom. In the background are the silhouettes of the armies that fought for and against the abolishment of slavery. The center figure, through the use of Art Deco inspired geometric shapes becomes the focal point, is pointing towards the north to lead the southerners to their economic freedom. Lastly, on the right side of the painting, emphasizes the cultural rebirth black Americans found in the…

Each work of art has elements of unity and elements of variety. Variety balances out unity and keeps things interesting. The center of interest or focal point is the place the artist draws your eyes first. Artists use balance in order to construct paintings.
