Arranging a Badminton competition

A Badminton Tournament is a way of giving players a chance to play against teams from other clubs, regions and countries and is good fun. The first steps in organising this competition would be to talk to your own team to find out whether the players would be interested in this idea, whether they would prefer a doubles or singles competition and players general availability. With this feedback decide on the most appropriate time frame to hold the competition. Then with a good idea of when you want this competition to take place you can start looking for appropriate venues to hold the competition at. You would been to assess your plans and decide if your usual badminton hall be suitable, or would a bigger and more central location be a better venue but making sure it could accommodate badminton i.e. the floor surface and having the upper head space required. The costs also need to be considered and weather you are going to have to hold a fundraiser to raise the money or charge the players entry fees.
Once you have a set date and a venue you can now start inviting players to your competition and even advertising to encourage unknown players to participate. By creating registration forms with a strict return date you are able to see well in advanced how many players are intending to participate and then further arrangements can be made to ensure you have the right size venue, and the right amount of equipment available. The registration forms should contain all the details of the event such as the competition date and times, location and a short description of the event so they know what to expect, whether its singles or doubles, whether there are any age restriction or if it’s for a specific level of ability, also if there are any fees involved and contact details.
