STANDERS ON PERSONAL HYGIENE
THE WEAR OF THE ARMY UNIFORM
It states in div pam 600-2 paragragh 15 that
the face will be clean-shaven (including prior to the first daily formation/physical training and over weekends and off-duty periods while on post). if a mustache is worn, it will be kept neatly trimmed, tapered and tidy, and will not present a chopped off appearance . no portion of the mustache will cover the upper lip line or extend sideways beyond a vertical line drawn upward from the corner of the mouth. handlebar mustaches, goatees, unshaven hair under the lower lip, and beards are not authorized. if beard growth is prescribed by an appropriate medical authority, the length required for medical treatment will also be specified (i.e. “a neatly trimmed beard is authorized. the length will not exceed 1/4 inch.”). the soldier must carry a copy of the beard profile on his person at all times. it is important as an NCO to live up and go by the standers. Our failure to understand and utilize the moral and ethical guidelines expressed by the Army Values lead to troubled Soldiers and bad leaders. We need to do the right thing all the time no matter how is looking or not looking. We as NCO need to show and lead by example. By me not shaving and then not doing anything about it shows to the lower enlisted and higher leadership that I didn't give a shit about my responsibilities and obligation to the army.
