Soldiers must be and act responsibly in every situation they may find themselves in, whether it’s in or out of uniform. Responsibility increases when soldiers believe that they have personal control over their mission performance, performing out of desire to do well instead of just following orders. There have been many studies that have suggested that when a Soldier feels that they have personal control over work performance the result is that the Soldier has a better task performance, better problem solving, and a higher persistence in accomplishing the task, more positive emotions and even better psychological and physical health. Responsibility and accountability are two of the main factors in being a successful Soldier in today’s U.S. Army. You must be a responsible soldier if you want to make it through deployment alive. Or even worse, if you fail to be responsible you could…

In 1924, a grateful Congress voted to give a bonus to World War I veterans, $1.25 for each day served overseas, and $1.00 for each day served in the States. (Bartlett) However the payment would not be made until 1945. Unfortunately, by 1932 the nation had become engulfed into the Depression and the unemployed veterans obviously wanted their money immediately so that they could support their families.…

Fulfill your obligations. Doing your duty means more than carrying out your assigned tasks. Duty means being able to accomplish tasks as part of a team. The work of the U.S. Army is a complex combination of missions, tasks and responsibilities — all in constant motion. Our work entails building one assignment onto another. You fulfill your obligations as a part of your unit every time you resist the temptation to take “shortcuts” that might undermine the integrity of the final product.…
I am writing this essay as a plan of action because I managed to miss a scheduled appointment. Missing a scheduled appointment may seem like a rather minute infraction but if you think about it and trace it back far enough it has a negative impact on all parties involved it effects the army as a whole, the government, tax dollars, every American and possible most of the population of the planet even if they don’t know it or feel an impact from it on some level even if insignificant it effects civilization as a whole. I had an appointment with the Army Substance Abuse Program scheduled for Tuesday the 13 of November at 13:00 in the afternoon. On this particular Tuesday I was also scheduled for an appointment with my son off-post. These two things were an obvious scheduling conflict and would had require my wife to call off from work to be able to take my son to his appointment, in order for me to attend the scheduled appointment that was with the Army Substance Abuse Program. Regardless of whether this actually happened or not it was my responsibility to make it happen, both for me, my kid and the army to attend my appointment. I ultimately failed to attend my appointment and as a result I was negatively counseled for my actions and lack of reasonability. In this counseling I was instructed that my plan of action would be for me to write a one thousand word essay due to the fact that I missed the scheduled appointment and I was instructed that it would be due to be turned in no later than Monday the twenty sixth of November.…

The main reason for this essay is because I did not follow out proper orders and was not at the correct place of duty for PT/Accountability formation at the correct time. Although there was a miscommunication, granted on my half, there is still no excuse for me to miss a formation. I want to be an excellent soldier and I want to excel in the military. The first step I need to put into action is always making sure I am at the appropriate place of duty at the correct time or preferably with time to spare. This is a simple task that is easy and painless to ensure, and it will be accomplished.…
I am writing this essay due to the fact that I failed to show up on time to accountability formation at 0630 on 31July2012. I was informed the day prior of where my place of duty was and when I was suppose the be there. I knew that I had to be at troop no later than 0615 in summer IPFU for PT. I am aware that I agreed to the initial counseling that I was expected to be fifteen minutes prior to any formation. I failed the standards that were given to me by my first line. I am fully aware that time management is basic soldiering task. Failure of this basic soldiering task shows incompetence in discipline. This also shows to others in our troop that my leadership is not keeping accountability of their soldiers. This is not their fault, but mine. My lack of discipline shows weakness and our troop can only be as strong as our weakest link. Not to say that I am in anyways the weakest link of our troop but I showed weakness on 31July2012.…
