Certainly many factors contribute to commit a crime, but undoubtedly gun control
Gun control has been an ongoing issue in the United States for the past few years due to the increase of gun related deaths such as school and mass shootings. There have been debates on whether to eradicate firearms from Americans. These ideas were addressed by the United States government and gun control advocates who are for stricter gun control. On the other hand, people who oppose the policy feel that their 2nd amendment rights will be violated just because there are reoccurring school and mass shooting that are being committed by what are perceived as mentally unstable individuals. This essay will examine the perspectives of both sides of gun control and the mental state of the suspects of the attacks.…
on assault rifles is unconstitutional. Joseph Sobran, an American journalist and writer analyzes the amendment: "The Second Amendment, whatever else it means, clearly forbids the federal government to ‘infringe’ that right” (par. 8). The federal government has taken away that right by limiting assault rifles. First, nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government granted to right to limit an individual’s right to own firearms. On the contrary, the Second Amendment expressly grants this right to all citizens, making all gun control laws unconstitutional. James Madison said in No. 45 of The Federalist Papers, "The powers of the federal government were to be ‘few and defined.’ The supposed federal power to regulate guns is anything but ‘defined’;…

Who thought that such a small bullet could have such a big impact on America? In recent times, the issue of gun control has become a progressively intense topic. Whenever a national catastrophe occurs that involves gun brutality, the question on what to do about American’s gun control takes the spot light. Most of the crimes that involve firearms are committed with the use of a handgun; this is a serious problem with America today. Although, most would agree that the world needs to come up with a solution about all the gun violence that we deal with every day, no one seems to have any answers at this point. Most gun control supporters believe that completely banning handguns is the best way to protect citizens. Banning handguns would not be an effective solution because banning…
On the contrary, opponents of gun-control laws claim that it is useless to prevent violence by regulating guns. In fact, law-abiding citizens are already permitted to carry concealed weapons in forty states with gun crimes rate remaining the same (Wright). In my opinion, with guns thousands of citizens could save their lives. Just like Jessica, they gain courage because guns are available to them when emergencies occur.…
Gun Control Creates A Safe World Gun control is a controversial and divisive issue in our routine life, not only in the United States, but also all over the world. Basically, gun control refers to governmental efforts to limit or restrict the production, sale, possession and use of guns by private citizens. Some people believe that it is necessary that federal and state laws allow citizens to purchase and possess guns, or even actively require adult citizens to maintain weapons in their house, and periodically to train in their use. However, others think gun control is indispensable in our society because gunshots are the main cause of death in the United States. As for me, I prefer to support the second view because guns are lethal and the fewer people that have them the better. The only function of a gun is to kill. The more instruments of death are removed from our society, the safer we will be. With my research, I found a lot of striking data about guns menacing people’s lives. There should be gun control in the United States because guns are a menace to people’s lives.…
Gill, Baldev Singh CEM-1, B23 September 11, 2015 REGULATING GUN OWNERSHIP Gun control, an issue rising in the minds of people. Everyday we see in news that someone got shot, someone got robbed and many other stories in which a “gun” has major role. In every part of the world gun violence has increased and gun control has become hot topic for debate. Do carrying guns makes society safe or dangerous? Studies by New Stanford (2014) showed, increase in gun ownership increased crime. So, gun control is demanded. But there are many people who are against gun control. People often argues that they have right to own a gun, its for the self defense etcetera. Do people really consider while purchasing gun? Somehow its correct, people have right to own gun for the sake of one’s self defense but to reduce crime there…
Gun rights and gun control are always hot items during any political discussion, whether it is between peers or politicians. One of the many great advantages to being an American is the ability to choose for one's own self what to believe in, another advantage, in my opinion, is the right of the people to keep and bear arms. It is my intention over the next several pages to make you aware of my point of view on the issue of gun rights. I will bring up arguments for gun rights and against gun control, citing all sources used. Some topics to be discussed are the Second Amendment, media influence on weapons violence, and the effects of crime rates in areas that allow open or concealed carry. I would like to preface with some safety notes, clearly nobody should be using a weapon they do not feel safe operating or have no knowledge of how it operates. But this is not always the case, according to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, 606 Americans lost their lives through unintentional firearm injuries in 2010 (1). These unnecessary deaths could have been prevented with safety training and weapons familiarization. Another important aspect of safety is that role models reduce accidents, meaning if you practice safety and are knowledgeable about the local laws, those who look up to you will behave responsibly as well.…
Alex Thammavongsa GE 217 11/26/12 Final Paper: Argument Against Gun Control The argument on firearm regulation has been a heated discussion for many years. On one side of the debate, we have people in favor placing restrictions on guns, while, on the opposite end of the spectrum, we have people fighting the regulation of guns. People in favor gun restrictions believe gun control can reduce crime ,while, the people against gun control believe having the right to bear arms is an effective crime deterrent. I believe that every law abiding citizen should be able to carry a gun and defend themselves against people who intend to harm them.Gun control laws are simply ineffective and they have an adverse effect on crime. Instead of reducing crime, gun control laws just simply take guns out the hands of good people and puts the guns into the hands of the bad guys.…
A controversial argument opposite to both viewpoints of gun control mentioned, is the negatives of guns and the need for gun control. In the article, “The Impact of Violence on Children,” Joy Osofsky elaborates that gun violence in communities are extremely detrimental in communities especially on children. Osofsky, a professor of public health in Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, uses masses of children psychology, scenarios and experiences to demonstrate the importance of gun control and to increase gun regulations. She focuses on children’s response to guns and violence, showing that the exposure of gun violence to children at their early ages not only increases their interest to use guns, but also the likelihood to use…
Gun-control in America Gun control has been a very debated topic in America for as long as the county has been a country. Some believe that there is no reason to have personally owned guns because of the danger and violence associated with them. Others believe that guns are the backbone of American society and without them chaos would ensue and the country would no longer function. There are also many in the middle that believe that there should be regulations on the types of firearms and the number of them and individual may be allowed to own.…
The united states government should put gun control in effect because it's too many shootings happen in the united states of america .Tragedies every day in the world but the president should stop the violence . The shooting we should help the people that want to kill people for no reason stop the bang banging .“In the debate over guns, both sides are angry. The pro-gunners are angry at the ignorance, lies, and distortions of the anti-gunners, and the anti-gunners are angry with the pro-gunners for presenting facts.” These things makes are children today feel like they not safe wherever they go .we should protect the people we knew or people we don't know we should do better by the children not worse .we should not do gun by gun violence every…
Celia Ruefle English 11 12/4/15 Gun Control Gun control is laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms. Gun control has been an important issue and topic of debate for a long time in the United States. Some people believe that gun control would not prevent gun deaths, whereas others think that having more gun restrictions could save many lives. I believe tighter regulations are needed to reduce gun-related violence.…
Gun Control If you think that people should have a license to buy a gun, well it think so to because to many people are dying every day. If we don’t do anything about it, it will get worse. Here are some reasons why. Did you know that 16,808,538 guns were sold in 2012. Did you know that 2 million of them are hand guns. That is a lot of guns. Half people dying are between the ages 18-35. There are 30 people dying every day in the U.S. because of guns. People could put an end to this if you had to have a license to own a gun. I think that when you buy a gun they should put your name in a computer to check if you have broke the law or done anything bad or see how many guns you have bought. I think you should only be allowed to own 10 guns…
