Arguments Against Censorship
Censorship is the concealment of words, images, idea that are considered as “offensive”, occurred from the success in imposing their personal political or moral values on other. I support censorship because censorship helps to contain the expert’s context that is why governments try to censor things so that they can protect their people from explicit context such as violent scene and obscene material. Though a narrow range of censorship can be use, they still help reduce the impact from the explicitly of these material. So this is why I strongly believe that censorship does have a huge impact on our lives both politically and morally, and this is why I support it.

Although parents try to hide censored things from their children, but they could still see it anywhere, any place that people would do it. With this new flow of information available to the public has come increased censoring by the government. However, this is not a new issue as some might believe. Since the first primitive government was established information has been shielded and manipulated from the every day citizens of the world by those in power. The cause fought against information censorship enjoys the same past. For as long as information has been censored there have been those who have fought against it (Newth, 2010). The first amendment: freedom of speech is violated with censorship. In the ALA Library Bill of Rights, parents, and only parents, have the right to prohibit or control what their children read. Freedom of expression and of opinion is for everyone, not just for the people that the majority thinks are right. In 1953, Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas said, “Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the one un-American act that could easily defeat us,”(Quotations: First Amendment, Censorship…). This shows that even the government can see the harmful effects of book banning. Furthermore, “the school alone has the final say in what books are appropriate for the children under its care to read,…

Like the man in the image above, the art of censorship covers up the direct senses of people, manipulating a person’s reality. By restricting a person’s voice and what they view, you can easily manipulate them to a image. The morality of this has been debated for hundreds if not thousands of years. Great minds have made greater points for each side of this controversial topic. It is my belief that censorship is not a healthy practice for the wellbeing of the populace, nor the culture of a nation, as it skews the truth and causes even the brightest minds to have inaccuracies in their world view. The other side argues that people need protection from sensitive material, and that the human mind is to volatile to deal with the reality of our world without a filter. There is a clear difference of philosophy between the sides of this debate. One side maintains the philosophy of freedom…

Censorship violates humanity's natural autonomy in that it denies an individual an uninfluenced choice in formulating his or her beliefs. Even if the most intelligent human beings are very sure in respect to the truth of an idea, it is wrong for certain individuals to deny other individuals the opportunity to come to a decision themselves. Censorship is wrong because it disregards humanity's basic rational nature and its ability to critically evaluate complex ideas. In effect, censorship is unacceptable because it refuses to recognize another human being's intelligence and free will.…
