Argumentative Essay: The Fifth Amendment
The Second Amendment is the most important and relevant amendment of the Constitution. The second amendment was established on December 15, 1791. If people didn’t have the right to bear arms, there would be no use for the other amendments. Such as; the Fourteenth Amendment. The Fourteenth Amendment gives the people the rights of a citizen. Taking away gun rights messes with the rights of a citizen. Also, the Fifth Amendment states the rights of a person. So gun control is violating the Fifth Amendment also. The Second Amendment states that the right to bear arms cannot be taken. Yet, people are trying to take gun rights away anyway.
Thomas Jefferson, who was a Democrat, even supported gun rights and stated “the strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” On a website someone stated that “Guns kill too many people.” If that was so pencils misspell words, forks make people fat, and cars make people drunk. Taking away guns will keep some families from eating and that counteracts with our human rights. What is confusing is the Democrats are trying to establish gun control because there are too many people getting killed. The people who are killing people are called criminals. Criminals don’t obey the law. If we have gun control they are not going to follow it. They are going to find a gun or keep their gun and disobey the law anyway, just like they disobey other ones. During American history, males from the ages sixteen to sixty were required to be part in their local militia. The few men that didn’t own guns had to pay a fee, instead of participating in the local militia. But, most men owned
