The Crimean war took place between October 1853 and February 1856.
The war was between Russia which was on one side and on the other side was Britain, France, the Ottoman empire(Turkey) and the kingdom of Sardinia.
The reason why this war took place is because it was about who could control the territories of the ottoman empire.
Much of the Crimean war took place on the Crimean peninsula on the northern coast of the black sea.
There was also peace talks which began in 1856 and the war came to a conclusion with the signing of the treaty of Paris.
It was also estimated that more than 300,000 soldiers were killed during the battle for the ottoman territories.
