Argumentative Essay: Should People Volunteer To Help Others?
Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Life’s most urgent question is: What are we doing for others?” So I ask you now, what are you doing for others? Well, here is one way you can help others while even helping yourself. Volunteering fulfills a need for someone while improving your mental state, self-esteem, and it makes others want to volunteer as well. In order to make the world a better place, people should volunteer to help others. Volunteering fulfills a need for anyone in need of service or care. Volunteering makes others want to help. In Atlanta, there was a snowstorm that left people stuck on roads with no way to get supplies. One stranded motorist created a Facebook page asking others for what they needed. The response was one enormous group that had to be split into seven regional groups, each group with 300 to 1,200 volunteers delivering supplies. In September 2014, the Bureau of Labor Statistics surveyed volunteering across the country. Statistics show that 25.3% of the United States residents have volunteered in some form. Volunteering will help others, yourself, and will increase the help that you get, ultimately making the world a better place. What will you do to increase volunteering in the future? Less people are getting involved, and without volunteers things will be a lot harder to accomplish. Without volunteering the needy will not get the supplies and services they need. If you increase volunteering, you will help the younger generation learn that volunteering is important and that it can continue to grow. Finally, volunteering can help fight cancer, increase educational standards, end hunger and much more. Volunteering can be for a small cause or a big cause; either way, it helps whatever you want to

Even if you are making a good living for yourself, you should always take time out of your day to give back; you never know when you might need someone to help you out. Volunteering my time to my community has always been something I’ve made time for. Not only does volunteering help others, but it can affect your own character. By volunteering you learn social skills, gain work experience, and if you are lucky enough, it will change your life.…

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), there are over 600,000 homeless people on any given night and the number continues to increase, especially in major cities. Homelessness affects all people since citizens must deal with the consequences of the actions of the homeless. Clearly, the current method of dealing with homelessness, which consists of relocation, has thus far failed. Also, drugs should be decriminalized and the mentally ill should be properly treated in order to prevent the never-ending cycle…
