Argumentative Essay: Should Kids Have Recess?
Ah recess, a kids favorite thing to do at school, it's a fun time to play and chat with friends. Do you thinks kids should have recess? I do, kids are always hyper because come on were kids we like to move. We can't just sit down with a cup of joe and watch the news, we have to run, play etc.

My first reason is exercise. Some kids don't even get PE as one of these classes so some of them don't get exercise at all throughout the day. Now don't get me wrong we need school, it's very important for colleges to have a good life and a good job for money, but exercise is also very important for your health to have a good life aswell. To make sure we can have both, we should have at least 30-25 minutes of recess to unwind and feel comfortable.

Another reason is socialization, kids need social skills for their future and if there stuck inside not talking to friends it could cause them to mess up on things in the future such as job applications, meeting new people, etc. If you didn't get to have recess you wouldn’t get to talk to people thus you wouldn't have very many friends. I can understand no recess in high school because you have more freedom and get the chance to see your friends and have to get ready for the real world but, we should have a little bit of recess in middle

We should at least have a little “free time” in the day. Kids can't be trapped all day sitting down it gets us tired. We should get at least 25 to 30 minutes of recess a day. A good time is in the middle of the day because for the rest of the day you'll be tired and focussed. Studies show that kids tend to get more focused and committed plus it gives teachers free time to recap or get grades up. You may have friends to talk to at recess and they may be the funniest people in the world, laughing improves focus by 45%. So now lets get on to more of the important

Recess to me means taking a “break” from doing something or taking your mind “off “of something. Many Americans feel as if it shouldn’t be implemented in the school schedule because they are not thinking of the importance of the physical activity that the child is getting during this period of time. Nearly 18% of children age 6-11 are obese in America could, it is because they lack physical activity. Physical activity is important for all people to stay healthy and active. Physical activity has a huge affect during the early childhood phases, because the children are developing still and they need to work the junk food off that they ate at lunch during recess. One way for children to achieve physical activity is through school recess.…

I do declare and so do others believe Activity Time is a privilege and also very efficient. Without the social and physical time that we need, not only does this bring upon more stress for teachers, it also has for students of Ligon GT Magnet Middle. The 20 minutes taken out of our day is a time to let loose all energy and be ready to focus as soon as we return to our classes. All students should have the right to make up any work that they might have for a teacher in a timely manner, as well complete it for credit. This makes life easier for students, but for teachers, it helps them to be organized instead of them having to chase you down to get your work in. Now since time is longer during class periods, we are all gaining weight because we sit down all day. We, students at Ligon Middle deserve to have time for extra help needs instead of coming after school, or having to most likely figure it out on your own.…

“According to the Pediatrics journal “The Crucial Role of Recess in School,” “children develop intellectual constructs and cognitive understanding through interactive, manipulative experiences” (Murray and Ramstetter 183). In other words, children experience and learn various cognitive skills that are not learned in a classroom, but during unstructured play at recess. If one were to study elementary students throughout the school day, he/she would notice that the children become inattentive and restless after sitting at a desk for a period of time. Recess gives children the time that they need to release energy to be able to come back to class more concentrated and productive. When recess is eliminated from elementary schools, these cognitive benefits and skills are lost. Even with more instructional time, most of it would be lost trying to get the children to pay attention throughout an entire school day. Along with cognitive benefits come social and emotional benefits. “Recess promotes social and emotional learning and development for children by offering them time to engage in peer interactions…” (Murray and Ramstetter 184). While interacting with other children at recess, students learn communication skills that they wouldn’t learn sitting in a classroom or at home. Some skills include cooperation, sharing, problem solving, and self-control. All of these skills are used throughout the rest of a child’s life and are vital to learn in order to be successful in the classroom as well as in future activities. Making the decision to ban recess strips children of the opportunity to learn and practice these traits. Not only are emotional, cognitive, and social opportunities taken away, but physical ones are as well. Many people in society today complain and argue about how obesity has taken over the country, and that children need to become more active.…

Many elementary schools have reduced or eliminated recess during the school day in an attempt to improve test scores. That has been especially true since the No Child Left Behind Act introduced in 2001. In order to allow for more instruction time for achievement standards to be met, more time was spent in the classroom resulting in something having to be cut out of the school day. In most cases, that is recess. However, doing so has not had the desired results and children have been losing out on very important aspects of their development. Having recess is vital to the development of children because it helps them to perform better academically in school, it gives them the opportunity to learn the social skills needed throughout life, and it improves their physical well-being.…

This article contains information about recess and why it should be implemented in schools. Sometimes educators view recess or free time as a distraction away from educational learning. However, studies have proven that recess can help with student’s cognitive skills. “Relationships with peers and social skills often develop in the context of social games with peers, such as tag, soccer, and jump rope games” (Pellegrini, & Bohn, 2005,18). In addition, recess increases student’s physical activity, which can help reduce the…

Not having gym class provided or not enough of it can affect kids in the future. It can increase their chances of getting sick or weak. But by having a sports team they could join the gym time won’t matter as long as the student continues to practice and get their full 60 minutes (“Pros and cons of middle school sports”). Most middle schools and high schools do not allow recess so kids can focus on their grades. Without school sports these kids would get no time to go outside because of the amount of homework.…

Schools should end later. From my personal experience, I usually end school and then have hours of extra curricular activities, because I am a dancer. This limits my time that I am able to spend on homework, and causes me to stress out. Also, it forces me to go to bed later and not get enough sleep for a growing teen. If school ended earlier I would be able to finish my homework earlier and get to go to bed earlier which would enable me to then get more sleep. Finally, I would get to spend more time with family. I am always rushing home from school, right to my homework and then off to dance, and then back home for homework. I never get to talk to my family and tell them about my day.…

Sanderson 2calendar are the 60-20 and the 90-30 plans. Perhaps, the most important facet of year-round education is how it is implemented. Schools may operate on a single-trackschedule where all students are on the same calendar and get the same holidays off, ora multi-rack schedule, which has groups of students attending school at different timeswith different vacations. Our children are so important and the idea that our schools don’t see that is a scary thought. Recess has been a way to allow our kids to connect with others socially, build new bonds through similar interest, exercise, and refresh after sitting in a stuffy classroom for so long. Students need recess because just like our muscles need rest time to build after a workout, so do our brains. If we are constantly cramming information in, our brain will become over worked and we will start to experience major health problems in our kids. It is even worse now a day because we have technology to battle with. Students are learning that play time is on an IPad or cell phone. They are losing a very valuable and influential time in their lives.…

One reason I think this is that kids go to bed late staying up doing homework or getting back from school events. Kids in our school district are so involved with extra circular activities, which I think is a good thing. We want our kids to be involved, but we also want them to be successful with their school work. My daughter Mariah told me the other night after her far away basketball game…
