Should child soldiers be given Amnesty?

Child soldiers were young innocent adolescents who were abducted, as well as being trained to be dangerous children with dangerous killer instincts. But just because these child combatants have these killer instincts, that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be given amnesty, because they do. Child soldiers have come from a very emotional background. They’ve been through so much, it’s unbelievable how much they’ve been through. Child soldiers used to be innocent little adolescents but after they were abducted, their innocence was lost, because they were trained to kill people while under the consumption of drugs. They were drugged, and if they refused to do anything that leaders had asked of them, they

“Bosco was six years old when he was handed a machete by Ugandan rebels led by Joseph Kony. They demanded he kill his little sister, says psychologist Elisabeth Kaiser. Kaiser and her relief organization, Vivo International, deal with traumatized former child soldiers - some of whom they have treated in Uganda.” (Forced to fight, children suffer all their lives). I raised my arm to haul out, and my sister started to cry. And I started to cry as well and said: 'Please forgive me, Juli. I have to do this.' The commander tapped my shoulder once more. And I raised my arm and I drove the machete through my sister's neck." Child soldiers should not have to kill their own family. Some questions people always ask themselves who would ever make a loving innocent child and turn them into dangerous, and destructive children, many people may even think that they …show more content…
This article talks about what happens to girl soldiers. “ In times of war, girls are raped and suffer from other forms of sexual violence with the detrimental effect on their physical and mental health. When associated with armed groups, girls might be forced into marriage and early pregnancy.” Girls that were abducted by these horrible human beings, were called sex slaves. They weren’t always used for being raped, and all of that other gruesome thing that those girls had to go through, they were soldiers, but there were more of the sex slaves than there were girl soldiers. Another article that talks about these girl soldiers, it states “Thanks to the infamous KONY 2012 campaign, many now know that Joseph Kony's rebel army abducted more than 30,000 children - a quarter of the girls - to fuel a two-decade-long fight against President Yoweri Museveni's government. We have heard how these boys and girls - some as young as six - were beaten, raped and forced to loot and kill.” (Ellison) This is explaining that this young girl was abducted, and was raped, further into the

At first the author presents why and how children are used as soldiers. The problem is that parents often can’t support their children, so they have to give them away to the army. For the military children soldiers are perfect, because they are “easily manipulated, intensely loyal, fearless, and, most important, in endless supply”. They are often seen as ideal weapons and are used by rebels and terrorists as suicide bombers, combatants ,spies, and to plant mines.…

Since 2001 and as of 2008, child soldiers have participated in 21 on-going or recent armed conflicts in almost every region of the world.
