In the articles “How the Wolf Became the Dog” and “How the Dog Became Part of the Family” by Sarah Albee and Lauren Tarshis. Talk about why so many people have dogs for pets because dogs are very useful for the jobs they can do, so many have dogs for another family member, and dogs help kids. The first quote form “How the Wolf Became the Dog” talks about why owners have dogs for pets because of how helpful they can be.”Dogs were valued mainly for the jobs they could do” (Albee and Tarshis 25). The quote from Tarshis and Albee prove that dog owners have dogs for pets and not cats because dogs are used for the jobs they can do and help with. “Wolves are the dogs that stayed behind.” The world is a cruel place. A thing that can be treasured in one instance can be a threat in the next. For many people, we stare at the natural world and see its rugged beauty and wish that we could captivate it for ourselves. The case is no different for our modern dogs. Bred from the “empty canvas” of a wolf, we’ve modified, altered, formed, transformed, reformed, and remodified wolves to be one of the closest companions we have still today: dogs. But through all of our perfecting and reshaping that we’ve done to our best friends’ closest ancestors, wolves have prevailed, echoing their famous legacy still throughout the world. Wolves, now in danger of extinction, are one of the greatest controversies…

There's a reason cats aren't called man's best friend – and it's all in their genes, according to a new study. Cats are simply not as domesticated as dogs despite sharing households with humans for at least 9,000 years, researchers at the Washington University School of Medicine have found. The reason is because they have been able to retain their hunting skills and ability to see well during the night-time. Cats were first domesticated in the Near East about 10,000 years ago. The modern domestic cat is descended from a wild ancestor called Felis silvestris lybica. All 600 million house cats in the world have been traced back to five females of this species. They lived in the forests before they moved into villages. Ancient Egyptians worshipped…

Who would ever in their right mind want a cat as a pet? Cats are the most conniving animals alive and no one should even think to keep them as a pet. There are some people who have a large number of cats in their house at one time and continue adding to the number and that is just ridiculous. Cats can carry around a foul smell or odor and shed their hair which gets everywhere it should not be. There is also a lot of money that can be involved with investing in supplies, health and food for a cat. If anyone has a cat for a pet they should be ready to take full responsibility of the cat and all of the downfalls…

For years people have been disagreeing about which is better cats or dogs. I think dogs are a whole lot better. One reason I like dogs better is because dogs can work as service dogs. They are trained to assist people with physical disabilities. Tasks that service dogs can do are helping with pulling wheelchairs, opening doors, and picking up objects as small as a dime. Service dogs help the disabled. Service dogs work with people that have disabilities such as Diabetes, MS, Cancer, Autism and Epilepsy.…

Some pros to this career would be being able to have backup and protection when you fight against crime. Having protection may make you feel less worried and more confident when going out to dangerous duties. I believe canines are excellent and loyal partners that will stick by your side. I also believe that without canines it would be difficult to search for illegal items, bombs, missing people, criminals and much more. They are extremely helpful because they are very intelligent and their sense of smell is very strong.…

In a study performed by Levinson is 1969 he discovered the benefits his dog had on a withdrawn child. His dog acted as a bridge between the therapist and the child. Dogs are easier to talk to than another human to individuals who find it hard to communicate so the therapist can gain information from the patient sharing with the dog and the patient gains comfort from being able to share their problems. Being around a dog can also simply lighten the mood. “Man’s best friend”, as dogs are called, promote happiness and laughter which can be healthy for psychiatric patients (Rosseti et al., 2010,…
