Argumentative Essay On What Is A True American Hero
One question that is often asked, yet the answer varies, is what is a ‘True American Hero?’ Everyone has a different opinion on what a ‘True American Hero’ is. Personally, I believe that a ‘True American Hero’ is a person who would lay down their life for someone or people who they have never met; a person who has shown incredible courage even when they were scared to death. An American Hero is someone who has made a impact on our country. A person that I believe is a ‘True American Hero’ is Chris Kyle. Chris Kyle is known for being the deadliest sniper America has ever had. He was known as The Legend to his Army brothers, and to his enemies as al-Shaitan, “the devil.” He was apart four tours of duty in Iraq. He earned two Silver Stars and …show more content…
That is a ‘True American Hero’. Kyle said, “You don’t think of the people you kill as people. … They rule by putting terror in the hearts of innocent people.” He would often say that he did not consider himself to be a hero, that he was a regular guy in the right spots at the right times. Interviews with his relatives only show the determination that Chris Kyle had. Many of them say that he was quick to figure out issues and wanted to solve them, and quick to defend the ones he cared about. Chris had chose to leave his job in 2009 to be able to join his family, as the weight of him never being home began to take a toll on his wife. After Kyle had got out of the military, he had went into a depression and began to drink often, and would not leave the house. He would often wish that he was back in combat serving. That soon ended, and he began to enjoy the time he was able to spend with his wife and two children. I chose Chris Kyle as my American Hero because I am a major supporter of our military. I feel that these men and women have chosen to go out, leave their friends and families, to go and fight for people they have never met, and yet they do not get the recognition that they

Our heroes silently serve, provide aid around the world and defend the quality of life that Americans enjoy. They are proud of their service and rarely ask for anything in return, so they walk among us, often carrying the scars of their sacrifice. These people often do not get the proper recognition they deserve, as many of them lose their life, and sometimes we don't even take a second to think about it as it happens so often, when we should mourn and respect, these righteous heroes. Yet there are people who indeed disagree with this statement saying that not all soldiers should be categorized as heroes. For example, Chris Hayes is the host of All In with Chris Hayes on MSNBC, and three years ago, he stated, “obviously there are individual circumstances in which there is genuine, tremendous heroism: hail of gunfire, rescuing fellow soldiers and things like that. But it seems to me that we marshal this word in a way that is problematic.” Hayes uses the phrase, “genuine, tremendous heroism” which implies that soldiers have to do more than just fight to be heroes. They have to do more than risk their lives and put everything on the line by just going to war. The standard definition of a hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. The phrase that Hayes uses is a subjective phrase, and he uses it’s meaning in a…

The book American Sniper is written by Chris Kyle that is a captivating, thrilling, and very dramatic autobiography that follows his life as he turns from a bustin’ broncos cowboy into the deadliest sniper in U.S. history with over 160 confirmed kills. Chris was born in Odessa, Texas on April 8, 1984 and was truly the definition of a patriot. He loved the country he grew up in and that motivated him to enlist as a Navy Seal in 1999. When reading his book it was brought to my attention just how much soldier's sacrifice when going off to war. The stakes really are higher than just their individual life, for almost all of them have people who are relying on them back home, because not only is their duty to their country but also to their families.…

Upon hearing that this topic was about heroes, my mind became flooded with ideas and concepts. Family members, historical figures and celebrities had all come to mind. However, this person was the first name that came to mind. This man, depending on your prospective, is either a hero or a villain. To many, he and his qualities are basically the definition of a hero. He has a no-quit attitude, a passion, and a fire in his heart. He has the heart and soul of a true warrior and champion. He has never run, he has fought through the down times, the lows, to achieve greatness, and reach those highs, those great moments. This man is a rare find in this world, nobody will ever be like him. He has a killer instinct, or “Mamba Mentality”, and that is…

Courage and dedication to duty are ideals that many Americans hold in the highest regard. Throughout our history, many men and women have served our country bravely without asking for anything in return. Out of the public eye, the accomplishments of these heroes often go uncelebrated except for a select few. A former Navy SEAL named Chris Kyle became one of the select group to have their accomplishments celebrated far and wide across the nation. No one could have realized at the time how much his story would come to grip the American public. From dodging bullets on the fields of Afghanistan to raising a family, the story of Chris Kyle is one of great highs and terrible lows, yet one that is a distinctly American tale.…

Imagine a world, where there is no change for the better and it just gets worse and worse. Where you can’t stand as a proud American, and salute your flag with a sense of pride. To live in a world of anarchy and no longer feel safe in your own home. Living in a country that makes you lose hope, waiting for the calm after the storm, which never comes. To hope that one day, America will be great once again. All of that would occur, if it weren’t for the 48th president of the United States… Donald Trump. He is a hero because he is a great leader, stands up for what he believes in, and has visionary ideas.…

In my point of view, I think a hero is not only someone who acts in movies and wears fancy clothes or saves his lady from the bad guys, he is someone who stands for strength, bravery, and humbleness. We watch movies to see these action heroes fight for a good cause but we often ignore the real life heroes whom we confront everyday but still don’t care to appreciate their efforts. Forrest Gump, for example, risked his life to save his friend. While trying to save the friend, he came across several other members of his unit whom he saved as well. Sometimes, a hero performs amazing bravery that hold us in fear. Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are father figures who led our nation through times of crisis and…

This learning curve can lead to various degrees of heroism, such as war heroism, like Alvin York who fights for his country, or family heroism, such as Frederic Henry who fights for the wellbeing of himself and his lover. Although there are many different types of heroes that permeate American society, one must not forget the true definition that brings these different types together as a whole: an American hero is a figure who learns to put the needs of others in the foreground to protect those nearest to his…
