Argumentative Essay On Video Games
All I’ve thought about video game was a stress relief thing you can play using your computer or consoles which has the visual feedback shown on TV or the monitor until recent years. But I realized it’s based on what game you are playing. There are some games which have competitive scenes and others are casual games just for fun. Nowadays, people tend to call competitive video games as eSports. The word eSports means electronic sports due to the fact that it is played on computer. This sport got its ticket to be in 2022 Asian Games and is waiting for the approval of being one official medal sport in 2024 Olympic Games. The problem is people still are believing that something involves computer must not be called sport. However, video games have …show more content…
It has some big reasons behind it. At our parents’ and grandparents’ youth time there wasn’t much competitive games as todays’ as the computers weren’t belonged to most of the people from 1940-1990s. But what about arcade games? It wasn’t everywhere, few percentage of people had arcade game box in that era. Because of it, our elder generations have spent much more time on studies, and life skills than us. Therefore, us the new generation tends to spend many hours on computer games which makes our parents believe the games are to be blamed as struggles we are getting. There are tons of incidents that kids are going crazy because they are getting addicted to the games. Another reason why people can’t accept eSports as regular sports are because person must be seated on chair and make sure their eyes are open for hours which is burden for our body. Some people thinks sports require mostly the …show more content…

On the other hand, ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 (first of the two major tournaments of this year in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene) Finals had around seven thousand people watching the match in the Agganis Arena which has capacity of seven thousand two hundred people. It’s understandable because eSports is growing genre compared to basketball which has been successful for fifty years. Moreover, the ELEAGUE Major broke the most viewers’ record of the Twitch, most successful live-streaming platform on the internet. One million twenty-six thousand people watched the game between Cloud9 and Faze

There are countless similarities between e-sports and sports so I’ll only focus on a few. So what makes a sport a sport? The definition of a sport according to dictionary.com is an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often competitive in nature. Both e-sports and sports require about the same amount skill but time is a completely different story. Amar'e Stoudemire shared in an article that he wakes up at 8 a.m., eats breakfast, then practice for more than three hours a day. A professional League of Legends player will scrimmage for six to eight hours a day and plays even more without their team, adding up to around twelve or more hours of practice each day including weekends. E-sports athletes are able to practice so much because there is not the same amount of strain on their bodies, but there is still a great deal of mental strain that these athletes go through.…

Why did our forefathers come to America? Why did they risk hopping on a boat, not knowing if they would survive the voyage? What could possibly be so important to them, that they jeopardized seeing their loved ones left behind again? The answer is freedom. Land of the free, home of the brave. However, each day the involvement of the government, media and other people escalates in trying to make sweeping decisions for all. Decisions on topics that do not have any real effect on anyone but the individual trying to make the choice. The content we let ourselves and our kids watch must be decided by us and no one else. One of the most criticized forms of personal entertainment is video games and specifically the violent variety. Some of the most infamous violent video games are the dramatic decapitations, limb removal sequences and big blood splashes which are plentiful in God of War. As well as, Dead Space, an interactive horror story, where the gamer must destroy monstrosities by any means necessary to prevent getting mauled, bitten, impaled, torn in half or eaten. None of those sound like games any real parent would allow their child to play. But, we are the ones raising our children and not a politician, news corporation or much less some stranger. We are the ones that get to tell our kids, “no means no!” Some non-gaming adults claim people engaging in violent video games will start to confuse fantasy and reality, they will take the violence viewed in the game and believe such behavior is acceptable in the real world. But more informed adults would counter those assertions by stating that, if the vast amount of people which play violent video games all acted out on the violence they witness in games then anarchy would reign. In essence, labeling violent video games as “murder simulators” is an inconsiderate statement which assumes that all individuals who engage…

As of November 20, 2014, same –sex marriage has been legalized in 35 out of 50 U.S. states. Same-sex marriage is a hot topic which the Supreme Court is considering to legalize. Many people say a homosexual person is a sinner. The question is do homosexual people choose his or her gender? They were born that way and they are happy with their lives. Homosexual people are nothing unlike heterosexual people. They are living, they are working, and they contribute to society. Proponents state that same-sex couples should have access to the same marriage benefits and public acknowledgment enjoyed by heterosexual couples and that prohibiting gay marriage is unconstitutional discrimination. On the other side, opponents argue that altering the traditional definition of marriage as between a man and a woman will further weaken a threatened institution and that legalizing gay marriage is a slippery downhill way that may lead to polygamous and interspecies marriages (gaymarriage.procon.org). All people in the world should understand the meaning of marriage, whether a same-sex marriage or a traditional marriage. For that reason, same-sex marriage should be considered as a legal marriage because it is an equal right for humankind and beneficial for society as well as preventing youth suicide.…

In Sean Flynn’s article, “Is Anything Private Anymore”, he argues whether or not our privacy is being invaded and why we should protect ourselves. I honestly agree with Sean’s argument because it’s true how everyone’s information is being hacked. Privacy is a diminished subject for all citizens, which is being exploited or exchanged with different markets. Today, in our society people want to have as much privacy as they can, but unfortunately we can’t always get what we want! Pretty much everything that we do is being used against us either in a bad way or good way. America is supposed to be a country of “freedom”, but as you can see it’s really not. Since privacy is now set as a high demand people will do anything to gain information on another person.…
