With all the gun related violence and school shootings that have happened lately in the United States there has been a lot of talk about whether or not there should be a gun reform. Some people argue that there should be a gun reform with stricter gun laws in order to prevent more gun related violence and crimes from happening. Some others believe that a gun reform is not necessary. They believe that stricter gun laws would cause more gun related violence. The United States should put a gun reform in place that includes stricter gun laws, better regulations, better regulations on gun permits, and restricts the type of guns available to the public. Some of the most known school shootings of this time period are the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the Virginia Tech shooting, and the Columbine High School shooting. At the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting a 20 year old man opened fire killing twenty-six people, twenty of which were young children mainly aged six and seven. (“Major School Shootings”) Although twenty were killed, many more are suffering as a result of this shooting. Too many innocent lives are lost. This is the ideas and thoughts of many Americans. These are the people who are all for a gun reform and the people who are against it. The people that are for a gun reform think that banning certain types of guns, better regulations on who can own and purchase guns, and having stricter laws would completely solve the problem of gun violence. (“Gun Control Laws”) These people believe that if the government says by law that certain people, including criminals, are not legally allowed to own guns that the violence will stop since it will be illegal. These people think that you can have a gun reform without violating the rights of the people because of the second amendment. (“Gun Control Laws”) However the people who are against a gun reform believe that a gun reform will do more harm than good. These people believe that if there is a gun reform with better regulations on who can own a gun it won’t allow some good law abiding citizens to have access to guns. If there are laws that reduce who can own what kinds of guns these people believe it will open up more of a chance for gun violent crimes to be committed. (“Gun Control Laws”) They believe laws would un-arm citizens and that criminals would still find a way to get whatever guns they wanted to get. They believe that this could cause an incident where there are several unarmed citizens with several heavily armed criminals. These people believe that a gun reform

Gun control should not be in force because it only affects the people who follow the laws. If weapons were banned, that is, putting gun control into effect, the people who follow laws won’t be able to protect themselves from people who don’t abide by the laws. The main purposes of fire arms is self- protection and hunting. So if the government tries to take our weapons away from us we can just throw the 2nd amendment at them and tell them that this is unconstitutional. We understand they are trying to cut down on crime, but it is actually making the crime rates go up. In Britain the government thought it would bring the crime/murder rate down but, it actually increased about 1 million more deaths each year. The government is trying to get is ammo they are trying to limit ammo manufactures to a certain amount of ammo a day. They are also making people go into havoc and making them go crazy over ammo, so people are buying…

For example, groups like the National Rifle Association argue that gun control infringes on the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. Gun control is an on-going debate because each year more people are killed by the use of guns. However, guns are not the result in the number of homicides each year, the problems rests with the irresponsible gun users. One of the most debatable topics in the United States is the availability of guns. The debate on the topic of gun laws focuses on those who believe that owning guns is a Constitutional right while others believe that owning guns is a leading cause of much of the violence within the United States. However, there is a balance between the two debates that will lead to a better conclusion to the topic. Making guns illegal will only lead to criminals possessing illegal firearms while the law abiding citizens will be faced with the threat of criminals with firearms while they have no source of protection. At the same time, the current laws do not require every state to follow laws that would allow for the government to ensure that the firearms do not legally fall into the hands of criminals or those not responsible to own firearms.…
