Gun owners argue they are used for self-defense and give them a right to protect themselves. In certain cases, they may not be fast enough to take out the gun and have ready if needed. Only if they are being safe and keeping their gun on safety. The guns are protecting people, but only in convenient cases. Gun control activists will ask is it realistic for the owner to be fast enough to obtain their gun and protect themselves.
