Argumentative Essay on Gay Marriage
Success (final copy)

The dictionary defines success as “the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one's goals.” Most people have different meaning on what they consider success is. For me success is completing my goals I have set myself for my future. But of course I have many stories about minor accomplishments of mine.

Success for me is when I have completed all the goals I set for myself. A huge success for me that I would really like to accomplish, would be having a career that I am able to support myself and my family. Having a career that is able to support my family isn’t enough; a career that I am passionate about and I enjoy doing it every day. Also for me to consider myself a successful person is being able to learn and practice as many cultures as I can threw out my life. So in other words I would like to travel to other places and leaning how the people live in that certain part of the world. Also helping out in charity more often would be something I would like to succeed in my life, making huge donations to charities and being able to make a difference in someone else’s life.

One of my minor goals I have had so far in my life was in high school during a soccer game. I was playing soccer against Lane Tech High School, one of the toughest schools in the city. I scored three goals in that game and the final score was 3-0. My position was defender so I’m not really supposed to leave the goalie more than 20 feet. So being able to go across the whole field without losing the ball is pretty impossible. I did it three times in one game is pretty impressive. That game was one of my biggest successes my team and I have had.

The dictionary has one definition of success “the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one's goals.” Yet every person has their own definition of the meaning of the word. My meaning to success is pretty

Success in my opinion can only be defined as what was left behind to be experienced or built upon for the next generation. This would be a legacy left to others which speak to your contribution to society and family. Material possession and financial gain does not identify success, but could be a benefit of success. Success is built upon generation after generation of contributions.…

Firstly, before giving any argument about how success is achieved, it is necessary to mention that success is viewed differently in the eyes of everyone. This is because success means doing what you have always wanted to do as well as being where you have always wanted to be. For example, one can feel success after forming a happy family; as well as others can feel success after completing a project or after getting an “A” in a test. Success basically means being happy with what you are doing in your life.…

What success truly means is objective and therefore can only be defined on an individualistic basis. However, that would not be possible to fit into the dictionary, so the more technical definition is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” The word success is one that can have a slightly altered meaning, so yet another of the multiple definitions is “the attainment of popularity or profit.” While this might be a more common ideal, this further description is problematic because it is only one of the many different views of success.…

Merriam-Webster defines the word success as “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect or fame.” The definition of success differs from one person to another. Most people work hard throughout their life to achieve goals and be successful in their careers. That might mean acquiring a secondary education, being able to provide for one’s family, achieving a life’s ambition, or acquiring wealth. However, to a homeless man living in a busy city of New York, success might simply mean attaining enough cash to purchase a small meal. Success through the eyes of a United States Marine may be avoiding death in order to see one’s family. Perceptions of success can be faulty. In most cases, one can be successful in one part of life and be a total…

As defined by Webster’s Dictionary, success is: “the gaining of wealth, fame, etc,” or “favorable result.” Success defined by myself is: being content in life, having the necessities, forming a family , having the career of your choice, and believing in myself in all I do. I believe that success is also trying and trying till you reach the goal or point in life you are aiming for. What does success mean to you? It may have many definitions depending on who you ask. For some, it’s wealth, or fame, or the accumulation of “stuff”. As of right now, success to me means being a good student, getting good grades and getting into the college I want. But, success in life for me means becoming a good doctor, a good wife, and a good mother. If I were to consider myself successful, I would have to do something meaningful with my life. Maybe I won't be able to help every man, woman, and child in this world and cure them of whatever disease, injury, or sickness they may have. But, as long as I can care for my family and the people in my community, I would consider myself successful. For me- fame, money, power, and stuff have no meaning.…
