Chance the Rapper
Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, famously known as Chano or Chance the Rapper, is a twenty four year, six month, fifteen day old Chicagoan and the first child of Ken and Lisa Bennett. He precedes his brother, Taylor Bennett. Growing up in the middle-class neighbourhood of West Chatham, Chance attended Jones College Prep High School. He was not academic, did not get good grades and was suspended often.
Chance’s interest in music was uncovered when he began listening to Michael Jackson on cassettes. He was constantly hearing his parent’s music which included Sam Hooke and Billie Holliday and other artists in the jazz and gospel genres of then. He took up rapping when he was in sixth grade and his cousin let him use his studio.

His lyrics usually have references to Christian theology, his struggles with his faith and his upbringing. His discography consists of three mixtapes: 10 Day in 2012, Acid Rap in 2013 and Colouring Book in 2016.
Aside from his music career, Chance is known for many other deeds. Chance, so young, has done and is doing so much for humanity. The BET Awards selected Chance the Rapper to win the 2017 Humanitarian Award because of the rapper’s commitment to the Chicago Public School system and his initial $1 million dollar donation to the system via his new charity, Social Works. He poses as a wonderful father to his two year old daughter, Kensli Bennett.
Chance possesses various admirable qualities, some of which are great compassion and willingness to be of service to others. He is also very generous, as seen in uncountable situations. He is known to hold deep concern for the weak and the neglected. Chance the Rapper wishes to develop the tools necessary to be truly helpful to others, rather than to simply be a sympathetic ear.
