Argumentative Essay My argument comes from the essay, “The Business World as a Hunting Ground,” written by Esther Villar. This essay describes how easy a woman’s life can be by just marrying a successful man. By doing that, they wouldn’t have to go through all the obstacles men have to go through. However, my argument says otherwise. The lives of women can be just as complicated as the lives of men. My claim is that men are not the only gender with the rising pressure; women undergo the same situations. First, not all women get married which means they would have to support themselves. Second, some married women go through deaths of their spouses also causing them to support themselves and in this case, maybe even children. Lastly, gay couples with women have to hold up the family and in this case, they’re both women. In fact, a gay woman might face more obstacles than anybody else when considering the lack of gay rights or even searching for a partner. The grounds I have to support my claim contain very legitimate facts. The United States Department of Labor reported that in 2009, out of the one hundred and twenty two million women in the United States over the age of sixteen, nearly sixty percent of them were working or looking for work. In other words, more than half of them were labor force participants. In addition, they reported seventy four percent of the employed female workers were working on a full time basis. Most importantly, women comprised almost forty eight percent of the total U.S. labor force. Specifically, the amount of female workers was almost the same amount of male workers.
The warrant seems understandable when reflecting on things like pregnancies. Women aren’t only afraid of pregnancies, but also it’s aftermath. In the aftermath, there are things like labor or even attempting to lose the baby weight. However, what show the strength of women are the years in the past when they fought for rights.
