Argument Essay Abortion should be Legal for any Woman of any Age Abortion is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy (abortion). Abortion is also a right that every woman hasas long as it is in the first trimester of pregnancy. In many cases abortion being legal saves lives but it is also guaranteed to end a life every time the operation is done. Women should be in control of their own lives and should have the choice of having a child or not due to the effects that it would have on both the mother’s life and the child’s life. One night when my mother was seventeen years old, she was walking home alone from a party where she had been drinking alcohol, and a man attacked her and forced her to let him have sex with her. She ended up being impregnated and was pregnant for five weeks with a child whose father was the most awful man alive and would never be seen again. During this amount of time she did some serious thinking about what to do with the baby and she ended up deciding that she could not bear to keep a child that she could never love, let alone a daily reminder of the worst night of her life. She could have put the child up for adoption but she was afraid that she would be far too psychologically damaged if she could not even begin to forget the rape for another nine months. My mother has always said that this was the most difficult decision of her entire life but she still feels that she made the correctchoice. At the time of the pregnancy she was in her senior year of high school, had no job and nomoney, was single, and lived at home with her parents. If she had decided to keep the baby she would have never even graduated from high school and would have hardly any education and would not have beenable to get a good job. She also had no one else to help her take care of the baby and if she had decided to have it she would have had to of moved out of her parent’s home and taken care of the baby alone with no money.
