The bullying in schools has always been a problem, and parents think school uniforms could help that. As a student, I know that bullying happens in most schools. Some students bully others because of the brands of clothing they wear “Many parents feel students in uniforms look nicer and the requirement keeps families with financial troubles from worrying about their child being bullied [because they can’t buy trendy clothing]. Schools can easily become competitive runways and uniforms halt scholastic fashion shows, “according to Isaac Grauke. An example of how school uniforms can decrease bullying is when the Long Beach, California school district started requiring uniforms in 1994. According to the district a year later, school fights and muggings went down 50% and sexual offences declined 74.
Some students could think its certain clothes people wear can be distracting. Certain colors or patterns can catch some ones eye, or maybe a shirt of a band or TV show. ' 'Some principals said labels might signify things, and we wanted to avoid any possibility of gang problems, of some group of kids deciding to buy the same brand, and thinking the little thing on their shirt represents something. ' ' Logos on t-shirts could also be distracting but helpful to a student if another student was wearing the same logo they could know they both like the same thing. It could also be a bad thing because students and teachers could not like other students wearing certain logos.
