Argument Analysis: A Simple Fertilized Eggs

I simple fertilized egg in my opinion is a person, but only if it is actually in the mother. I do not think a fertilized egg sitting in a lab is a person It is scientifically proven that from the moment of conception the eye color, hair color, and skin color are all set. Once the egg is fertilized there are 46 total chromosomes which is what makes us human, 23 from the mother and 23 from the father. After the egg is fertilized the ball of cells is called an embryo. So in my opinion after the egg is fertilized (given that it is in the mother) it is a human because all these traits are set, and there are 46 chromosomes. Even if you do not think this is technically a human at this point it at least has the potential of becoming a baby.
So in other words the traits that constitute personhood in my eyes are have you physical traits already set and having all 46 chromosomes needed and the potential to live. Sense a fertilized egg is a person in my point of view
The decision as whether to keep or destroy the egg should be left up to the parents. I do not necessarily think that it is ethical to screen for diseases by using IVF. However, I do think if the parents would like to do so, it is their choice. I feel that this is not right due to the fact that you could abort just because your potential baby could have a desease and you do not want to deal with it. I do not think IVF is immoral but I do think IVF is immoral if doing so just to screen for diseases.
Kant would ask if every parent would do such a thing and if not then if can not be moral. So, I do not think he would agree with this topic. From a Utilitarian approach, you would ask if this brings out the greatest good. So really this perspective would depend on the situation.
