In today’s society, technology may be acknowledged as either being a useful tool in life to aid in one’s daily routine, or a detrimental item that is hurting people as it takes away time from more important matters. In the video called “Are We Digital Dummies” the concerns and advantages of living in a technological world are evidently shown.
Foremost, the video raises concern about the takeover that technology has on the world. People are gradually moving towards having a total reliance on technology, when it was originally created as a means to make life easier. This results in the feeling that one cannot survive without the use of technology. The complete dependence that people are beginning to have with technology is negatively affecting humans as it can grow to a very far extent, such as an addiction. Furthermore, the video raises concern over the fact that technology is making people distracted from their surroundings. Essentially, it has helped me become a better student in school. It has given me access to priceless information on the Internet, and my computer allows me to type up my school work. Moreover, I have created a virtual life for myself through countless social networking sites, where I am able to share moments with my friends. It is not only amusing; but, it is relaxing to occasionally move away from the real world. Technology is even beneficial for my family as my father is able to work from a laptop at home; my mother can speak with those across the world using a cellular phone; and my siblings can be entertained through video game consoles.
