Good Role models should have achieved a lot in life. Athletes have to be good or they will…
On the other hand, there are far too many celebrities who really are trying to sabotage the younger generation. For example, Miley Cyrus was a role model for teens and even young children when she was a young singer/ actress. Now she is nowhere near a suitable role model for our next generation. There are many celebrities like this as well…
Music actually improves communication between the right and left sides of the brain, allowing you to gain better comprehension and memorization skills which develop your brain to a higher level. Music has so much to do with metaphors and understanding lyrics and truly understanding the meaning of a song. It even helps to improve reading and comprehensive skills. Take Tupac Shakur for instance, his rap music has such meaningful metaphors which should be used in the classroom because they can truly help teenagers understand the meaning of a metaphor and students will actually be interested in the topic. Music is such a complex language that even incorporates mathematics, science, history, physical education, coordination, and even mental ability. Most teenagers find hip hop artist like Tupac interesting because they can relate to Tupac 's music about daily life struggles about gangs, drugs and growing up in the "ghetto". Since teenagers go through these struggles we should help give them something to relate to so they can know the real world isn 't perfect and a lot of people can be going through the same struggles as…
I agree with Nisey Williams as I too believe that pop culture has a very bad influence on Teens. The teens are so much influenced by their rock stars that they tend to copy every style of their favorite singer. The teens copy everything from their hair to shoes, their clothes and makeup, their way of talking and walking. They also get their bodies tattooed and skin pierced like their rock stars. Moreover to make matters worse, the fashion industry and media add the spice to the popularization of pop culture. The magazines and television channels show half naked pictures and videos of rock stars and pop singers. Music videos and stage show are picturized and performed in see through clothes and this leaves a great impact on the teens that follow them like disciples. The youngsters become so crazy following…
In the article “The Impact Celebrities Have On Our Lives”, Deborah King explains that celebrities can both positive and negative impact on people, and I agree because some celebrities are bad influences to us most especially younger people, but other celebrities are good role models and bring a positive impact on people. Often times on celebrity news shows, they talk about bad things that celebrities have done like cheating on someone else, or even worse like doing drugs or assaulting someone, but I have also seen celebrities being good role models when they donate the money they win on some game show to a charity of their choice or by raising awareness for something like bullying. This demonstrates that some of your favorite celebrities may…
Upon many great musicians there are more that have fame just because of publicity. [Publicity is a deliberate attempt to manage the public’s perception of the musician (“Publicity,” 2012, “Definition”). Usually in publicity they look at people such as politicians and performing artists, goods and services, organizations of all kinds, and works of art or entertainment. Publicity draws on to several key themes including birth, love, and death, this is important to them because it focuses on heavy times in important people’s lives. Publicists do this as a publicity stunt. Publicists are people or one person that generate and manage publicity for a product (“Publicity,”…
I honestly feel like Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Ryan Reynolds and other public figures you’ve chosen can be considered role models. I feel like Justin Bieber is considered a role model because he started off his career at a very young age. He…
Celebrities are examples of what kind of leaders people see and hear about a lot. This is why what people listen to or look up to matters, because what kind of music people listen to or what gossip people listen to affects them. Very few celebrities these days live by an example. Many celebrities go down a wrong path where they become bad examples. For instance, Miley Cyrus used to live by a great example she would uplift children and teenagers. Until she changed and now she has become a bad example. Leading by examples is a…
Some people think that music education should be taken out of schools; It wastes time and money. This way of speaking is understandable because the cost of instruments are not very cheap. The process of learning music and the new instrument takes time to learn and practice. The instruments themselves are enjoyable, but a child’s interest and enthusiasm about a school related class is to be recognized and saved from being lost. Also, music is a path for students to take in the education field that isn’t a standard, and music programs help ten percent of students complete advanced classes when exposed to schooling with arts involved (Walker). That statistic shows that music can help a student achieve high standards. The interests in an arts filled…
First, Aldous Huxley says that music is selling the wrong image to the audience. I agree with him. Today we are attacked by music commercial or promotion advertised on radio. By selling music to these "hungry" kids, the artist makes money. Why are we buying a false truth? Today's music has nothing but curse words. I mean we do have jazz, soul music, country ECT. But, the biggest music sales are pop or hip-hop music. Hip-Hop music consists of only curse words, and an encouragement of "gangster act" or violence. Is that good? Today, many kids try to adapt or act like their favorite artist whom they see on television. These artists are not only selling their music but they also sell their own brand named clothes and other accessories.…
Music is seen as a blessing to many individuals because it has such a positive impact on students, teachers, parents, and all generations because we are all linked to music somehow. These programs in the arts (band, choir, orchestra, and art to name a few) have such an impact on civilization every day. In some cases the arts helps children develop self-confidence, convince students of school’s value, and can teach about past civilizations (Chira). Students who are involved in music have so much more confidence in themselves and use their talents to express themselves; this is easier to do when they have an adult they look up to that completely supports them. Scott Voss, the main character from “Here Comes the Boom” is the perfect example. He risked his life and career just to restore faith in the young students in music and to raise money to fund their music program. Another example is a teacher from the New York Times article “As Schools Trim Budgets, The Arts…
Music has been around for a long time, from the Harlem Renaissance all the way to the Grammys. Music has been an everyday part of society whether people notice or not. Mostly, music is used for entertainment purposes, to lighten somebody’s day or to just get in the mood for a workout. Whatever the purpose of a song may be, other songs are there to inform the society about the social issues that are going on. Some artists decide to use their talent to tell people their opinion on the issue that are faced by most in society or call for action to people who want to make a change for the better.…
Musicians and their music relate to people especially youth(Noise Between Stations, 2). When someone like a teenager is still trying to find some sort of self-identity, music can help them determine what sort of beliefs they feel are right. If the music they connect to and base their beliefs off of is no longer available, then they have no source of backup for their beliefs. Not only do musicians write about such topics to teach, but it makes them more relatable, which benefits both the artist and the listener. These topics that they sing about may seem obscene, but they are just realities that make their music real(Noise Between Stations,7-8) When a musician tries to make their music real, it increases the satisfaction from the listeners, which fundamentally leads to…
Athlets have been lookd up to as role models for as long as sports have exsted. There is just something attractive about the thought of being in good physical condition and being talented in sports. But, are athlets the kind of people that children should be looking up to for direction and guidance? Many children often look up to the professional athletes as role models. In fact, in 1995 Sports Illustrated for Kids did a survey for kids who were ages 7 through 12 about who their role model was. The majority of the kids answered that a professional athlete was who they most looked up to. Only four percent of the children answered that their role model was one of thir parents. Because of today?s media, athletes are constantly in the public eye. Everything they do on and off of the playing field. Some professional athletes speak a positive message through their fame by demonstrating constructive ideas such as teamwork and commitment while they are on the field. Even off of the playing field some athletes set a good example by visiting children in schools, going to hospitals, or even setting up foundations and organizations to help the ill and less fortunate people. However, other athletes are not as considerate to the fact that someone may be looking up to them, some athletes are not concerned about anything other than the sport they are getting paid to play and themselves. These athletes are the ones that propose questions over whether athletes should be considered role models or not. A role model can be defined as a person whose behavior, example or success is or can be emulated by others, especially young people. Who would want their child looking up to someone who has been convicted of domestic violence or has a drug addiction? It is an argument of opinion that cannot be settled.…
