“Discuss the extent to which a Christian can take both Genesis 1-3 and science seriously. “
A modern day Christian can take Genesis 1-3 and science seriously. What contradicts this is how science countlessly claims to “prove” Genesis 1-3 wrong. The degree in which a Christian can take both Genesis 1-3 and science seriously is disputed by scientific and Christian evidence all over the world but the genuine point is that science interprets Genesis 1-3 wrong, it interprets it in a mechanistic manor rather than a literary approach. This is influenced by how science reads Genesis 1-3 in a Mechanistic approach rather than it to be interpreted literary and another point would be how intelligent design and theistic evolution affects the world today. It’s these points that a modern day Christian has to take into account to which they can take Genesis 1-3 and science seriously in an equal outcome. The extent to which a Christian can take both Genesis 1-3 and science seriously is affected by the main point that Genesis 1-3’s intentions was to be interpreted literary rather than how science picks at Genesis 1-3 in a Mechanistic view. When Genesis is interpreted from a scientific view it means that science is looking at Genesis word for word and it is a description of what genesis is trying to explain while not looking at what Genesis 1-3’s intent behind its words is. For instance if I replaced Genesis 1-3 with the famous poem “Where the sidewalk Ends” by Shel Silverstein1, the line “To cool in the peppermint wind” if taken mechanistically is interpreted as we cool down in winds that are peppermint. This is an example of how science would try to prove Genesis 1-3 wrong because it was interpreted in a mechanistic approach rather than a literal method. If I was to use substitute the same poem again it would mean...
