Introduction
Reflecting on workplace experiences —the challenges and successes—can be a particularly useful thing to do. It helps to think about the realities of your working environments, what you do well and what you can improve upon and why. This reflection helps you identify areas for personal development.
For this reason, reflective practice often is considered to be an essential component of successful work experience. It is also very important for people who are learning new professional roles because of a new job and those who have been promoted recently or hope to be promoted.
Reflective practice also can be used before and during a job hunt.

Reflecting on your experiences can help you develop your career ideals. Reflection helps you understand what your strengths, weaknesses, values and interests are. When you reflect on workplace experience, that reflection also help you develop your understanding of your work environment and your position within the environment. This information assists in determining what kind of jobs might suit you, and where you would like your career to develop in the future.
Career reflective practice can take on a number of different forms, including the following:
1. Quietly thinking over things on your own
2. Discussing your experiences with another person
3. Writing about your experiences
Reflective Writing
Writing about your experiences is a very effective method; it enables you to keep your reflections and to track your progress by reviewing them later. Keeping a diary of your experience is recommended highly for those who are searching for a job, have a new job, or have been promoted recently.

Reflective writing is a little different from academic writing because it is very focused on yourself, your experiences, your behavior, and your feelings, and is written in the first person rather than the third person. Reflective writing works best if you focus your
