The Purpose of psychological skills used on athletes is to increase their performance, enjoyment and development of life skills within their chosen sport. Sports psychologist’s main focus of interest is how psychological factors affect performance, understanding how participation in sports creates enjoyment and satisfaction as well as understanding the effects of participation on psychological development. With the optimum goal of optimizing performance as well as enjoyment through the use of psychological skills. Sports psychology is not just useful for athletes but is also beneficial for coaches, parents, injured and returning athletes, team building and communication within a team.
