Comparative Essay of two places of Worship:
Do different types of church have different features from other and how similar are they? Yes different churches have different features which make them unique to their name which can be their different practices, their setting or place of worship and the person they worship. Over the summer, I visited two different places of worship which were a Baptist church and a Catholic church. Both have very different features that make them up but do share some similarities in common. Both church systems worship the same God.
At my first sight of the Baptist church, it kind of looked small from the outside but looked big inside. It didn’t have any fancy architecture from the outside but was very beautifully decorated from the inside. Its windows were made of colored glass, had an altar with seats for church authorities. During church service, instruments like the piano, guitar, drums and other handmade tools were used during singing time which made the church lively. The Catholic Church was looking big from the outside but looked a little small inside. It had some good looking architecture both from the outside and inside. Its windows were made of colored glass, had an altar with seats for church authorities. During church service, instruments are barely used for singing which makes the church not lively. Hymns are song during singing times.
The Baptist church and they catholic church are similar first because they are Christian churches, they worship the same God and have some practices in common such as the reciting of the apostle’s creed. The two churches are very different because of how lively the church is in terms of singing. The Catholic Church is more of a calm church, they barely use instruments during church services and Catholic Church authorities put on certain garments during church service every Sunday. The Baptist church is livelier because various instruments are

Many Roman Catholic beliefs are different from Baptist beliefs. First, the sacraments namely THE EUCHARIST. The Catholics follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, that apostles gave their lives for the sake of the Gospel, "gospel" meaning Good News / teachings of Jesus, while the Baptist Church was formed at the beginning of the 17th century with the Bible, minus seven books from the Old Testament that didn't agree with, as their sole rule of faith and every individual responsible for his own interpretation. The founder of the Catholic Church is Jesus Christ, while the Baptist Church is John Smyth in 1609. Catholics believe in 7 sacraments. A sacrament is a 'sign' of Christ's living presence here on earth in which we receive 'grace'/blessings from. Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist, Confirmation, Matrimony, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders. Catholics believe in the power of the Roman Catholic Bible in addition to the power of the customs and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and of the Pope (Underwood¸ 1950). Baptists believe in the power of the Bible as well as faith plus nothing, that the Bible alone is enough bases for all doctrine and practice. Catholics believe in the conciliation of Roman Catholic priests. Baptists believe that there is only one arbitrator between God and man, and that one arbitrator is “the man Christ Jesus”. One pertinent and common belief shared between the two religions is connection to the world’s basic creation, the roots of Christianity because they both believe that Jesus died for the sake of our sins and was crucified under Pontius Pilate. The differences begin when the Jehovah’s witness religion denies the idea of three separate beings within one God, interpreting the Nicene creed differently than Catholics by believing that Jesus is not God but instead his influential power and creation. Catholics believe that each and every individual being is blessed with a separate spirit that will carry us to salvation, the Jehovah’s witnesses believe that people do not have separately existing spirits and will either die and join Jehovah in Heaven or simply cease to exist. Aside from these differences, both religions believe in preaching the word of the Lord and spreading the faith, but both religions do so in very different ways. While Jehovah’s Witnesses preach from door to door, Catholics preach the Gospel at mass. Both Jehovah’s Witnesses and Catholics attend a service of some sort on Sundays and holy days of obligation. Catholicism and Jehovah’s witnesses differ from each other in many ways, yet similarities between the two religions remain.…

I was raised being at church at least three or four days out of the week. My family has always played a major role in our church and for me, church has never been an option. Participating and being a part of the Sunday service, fellowship functions, and even anything service related always took priority over everything else in my life. A typical Sunday morning service at Calvary Bible Church starts with a more traditional style of worship. There will usually be a mixture of hymns and modern songs being sung with a piano, guitar, vocalists, and a small drum set included. Worship at Calvary can at times seem very conservative compared to other services. After worship there is a formal scripture reading and announcements. Kids are then dismissed for a children’s church and the pastor preaches his message. The messages are usually based off of a specific scripture in the Bible and very focused on what the text means and is saying. The service is concluded with another song and then a benediction from the…

A Difference in Opinion At the time of the Reformation, the Catholic Church was the main and universal church of England and differed in belief and doctrine from the new Protestant churches that arose on account of Martin Luther and his criticism of The Church. At that time, the Catholic Church was the center of everybody’s daily lives and they made known their authority through the teachings of the clergy and the selling of indulgences, which was paying money for the pardon of sins. In 1517, Martin Luther was so fed up with the corruption of the Church as evidenced by the selling of indulgences that he wrote a list of 95 theses that challenged the Catholic Church and made known his intention of changing or modifying the Church. Because Martin defied the Church, he was eventually burned at the stake for…

I was brought up in a Baptist household. My mother was a single parent and it was important for her to raise my two younger sisters and me to believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior and the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God. The Holy Bible, as I was taught, served as the final written authority for maximizing your utility in life and living up to the Christian faith. The Bible also served as a guide for knowing and serving God who is the Creator, Savior and an Advocate. I was also taught that Baptists are to celebrate the fact that a belief in Jesus Christ promises your salvation and everlasting fellowship with a loving God.…

Everything comes down to respect. Respect is a huge part in a community. Families or other social institutions should have taught generations to be highly respectable towards elders. In this situation, the church has a few young generations; however, it’s older generations than anything else, which requires for the atmosphere to be filled with respect. It’s disrespectful to go against an elder. Religion also plays a huge deal with understanding the patterns of language within a service. While being taught manners and morals, generations should have been also taught to respect and behave in the house of God. Meaning that no swearing could happen or saying God’s name in vain, holding the tongue would be a good way to not get in trouble. A Baptist church signifies the importance of connecting with one another through God. A common ground that everyone can enjoy and cherish from. The only way for a church to be able to stand is to have important roles, figures, parts, interactions, and people to unify everything…
