2) My interpretation of the word discovery is when someone detects or finds something new or previously unknown. In 1492 an explorer named Christopher Columbus was requested by the King of Spain to find a more direct route to Asia. When he made landfall 6 weeks after leaving Spain he thought he landed in Asia. But really he had found something else, an unknown mass of land blocking the route to Asia, the Americas. Columbus failed his main task he did not discover a quicker route to Asia but instead discovered the Americas a whole new world previously unknown to the people of Europe.
5) The conquistadores made great strides in exploring the New World and gaining new land for Spain, but their treatment of the Natives were inhumane and cruel. These Spaniards should they should not be praised for what the did. The conquistadores systematically wiped out the millions of Native Americans living in Central and South America. Hernan Cortes destroyed the Aztec Civilization because of his greedy desire to acquire all of their gold. Another conquistador Fransico Pizaro killed off a group of natives from Peru called the Incas for the reasons Cortes conquered the Aztecs.The number of natives killed were in the millions in a span of 5 years. The mass slaughter of these Native races is almost genocidal. The conquistadores did bring wealth and new land for Spain but their actions were extremely brutal and villainous.

2) Out of all the southern plantation colonies North Carolina obtained certain traits that made unique from the rest of its Southern neighbors.The neighboring colonies of Virginia and South Carolina were highly aristocratic, North Carolina on the other hand was considered the least aristocratic out of all the colonies. North Carolina didn't rely on the plantain system or slave labor like the rest of the Plantation Colonies.
