Mr. Tanner owned the Tanner Company, which operated three businesses in western Canada – a peat moss company, a mini-warehouse operation, and a landfill site. While attending a new business seminar, he met the inventor of Therm-eze and, after considering investigation, paid $250,000 for the Canadian manufacturing and distribution rights. Mr. Tanner also obtained a patent on the product in Canada which would last 17 years. Shortly after obtaining the rights to Therm-eze, Mark Tanner hired Richard McKay as a salary of $40,000 per year as the marketing manager. He had extensive sales experience, including the introduction of a number of new products to the Canadian market. Mr. McKay's first assignment was to conduct an analysis of the market potential for Therm-eze.…

Some of the departments constantly miss their deadlines, pushing back the entire operation. Currently the newsroom is constantly late in meeting its nightly deadline. Also, they tend to submit a large portion very late, making it far more difficult for other steps in the production process. They have historically been late in their submissions to make sure they had the most up to date information printed in the morning edition. The advertising department is also missing deadlines by changing layouts of their advertisements, introducing a late ad, or removing one after their deadline has passed. Editors then have to rearrange the layout of newspaper pages to fit their redesigns in with the articles and have it ready on time to be printed.…

An In the story "Anthony's Dilemma", Anthony uses non-comprehensive language in describing a business situation. While he may not have been intentionally sexist, his use of language shows that he expects professionals and business people to be male, and that women in the business world are rare. It is important for Anthony to improve his sexist language, as he says, so that he won't offend anyone, but, more importantly, so that he will help to create an environment that everyone feels they belong. While some of the language issues seem small individually, they can all add up to an environment that is hostile to women, leading to the possibility of a less diverse work environment than is otherwise possible, and also to potential legal troubles.…
