Living in a world where the physical appearance and the obsession for food is a nightmare. Many people worry about being fit while others don’t care about their appearance and what people have to say about it. My speech today will be about the different types of eating disorders that affect today’s society, such as bulimia, anorexia and binge-eating. According to: eatingdisorderhope.com. Millions of people suffer of eating disorders within the United States this statistic includes not only females but males as well. Anorexia is an eating disorder that affects women more than men. According to the site: nationaleatingdisorders.org/anorexia-nervosa and anad.org. People stop eating because in their eyes they perceive there selves as being fat. One of the causes of anorexia is because of peer-pressure and also today’s media is to blame, another factor is sociology and society. People with this eating disorder limit themselves in eating in order not to gain weight. Constant exercise and going to the bathroom right after eating is one of the obvious red flags. According to: edresearch.stanford.edu. This disorder has a high rate for death. Another eating disorder is Bulimia, Bullimia also affects men and women, and it is very similar to anorexia. People in this disorder eat way too much and throw it back up before digestion begins. This act is also to prevent their selves from gaining weight. According to: bulimiaguide.org. The Symptoms of Bullimia are strange behavior when around food and people, and try not to socialize and eat in front of others. Binge-eating’s behavior is shared with Bulimia’s type of warning signs. According to: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus. Binge-eating is when the person eats uncontrollable shortly after their pervious meal. It’s also because of emotion such as sadness, stress or pain following the act of bulimics, throwing everything back up. Symptoms of binge-eating are different states of moods like happy, sad, and anxiety....
