We live in a thin world were skinny models are what some teens and adults look up to. Anorexia is an emotional disorder, in which there is an abnormal fear of being fat, causing the person to stop eating. Anorexia is an eating disorder that most teenage girls have because, they see all those beautiful women on TV who are really skinny and they want to look just like them. Some victims of anorexia excessive or irrational dieting but, more frequently, they try to hide their disease. Although no one really knows what causes anorexia excessive or irrational dieting several theories have been put forward. In some cases, antidepressants have helped in the treatment of anorexia. At one time many therapists believed that anorexia, also called the starvation disease, was a form of rebellion. However, other therapists have argued that anorexia was a way of avoiding adulthood. Researchers are now suggesting that the disease may be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Eating disorders span a substantial behavioral spectrum. Anorexia is lowering of the body weight through restriction of food intake, excessive exercise, and/or getting sick.
Many of those people wishing to be successful don't work hard enough to achieve their goal. A surprising number of men and women are afraid of being successful. In our society, far too many people are successful but unhappy workaholics. Although anorexia is a serious and harmful condition, there are treatment options available. One option is therapy. Most often, the girl or boy is keeping his/her feelings inside and that is what is making him/ her depressed and, turning, anorexic. All they may need is for someone to listen to their problems and offer some good advice.
