Annual Thanksgiving
The BSM is sponsoring their annual Thanksgiving. The BSM held an annual Thanksgiving dinner on the Midwestern state. I attended at 6 p.m. At BSM and I met with my friends. Also, I met with families of America and this was the first encounter with them. They are friendly with me. Also, I met with Mr. Kevin. He studied at Midwestern State University. He tells me a little about this University And I took a picture with him. In fact, what was making the Thanksgiving is the food. The food was a mix of American and Italian. We have turkey, and it is a special dish for thanksgiving. Also, we had a fantastic soup with a piece of paper and lemon on each dish of this soup. On the other hand, there was some healthy food such as vegetable and fruit. Regarding

“A Native American Thanksgiving”, written by Beverly Cox and Clara Sue Kidwell, is an informational article including recipes, all relating to Native American culture. They begin this piece by dating back to the earliest known facts of “Thanksgiving” between the Pilgrims and the Indians. Cox and Kidwell set out to show the reader the real meaning behind this holiday. Pointing out that Americans only give thanks once a year, they go in depth about the Native American’s beliefs of giving appreciations. Indians would give credit and acknowledgment to the spirits of nature throughout the year in hopes for generosity in upcoming hunting and planting seasons, considering farming was an important part of Indian life. This material allows Cox and Kidwell…

In the collective mindset of most Americans, the image of the first Thanksgiving is a jovial celebration of friendship between the Indians and the Pilgrims, not to mention turkey being the main dish of the meal. This event has been distorted to the point that many people are unaware of the true happenings that took place, which led to the celebration now concrete in the American mythos. In After the Mayflower, the filmmakers portray the events leading to and following the first Thanksgiving from the perspective of the Wampanoag tribe. The film explores the diplomatic intentions behind the Wampanoag alliance with the settlers and reveals how the Pilgrims betrayed their trust following this event.…

Thanksgiving dinner is the meal where you cook for 10 hours and eat for 10 minutes. When one goes through the day not eating anything because they fear it might ruin their appetite. Every room in the house is intoxicated with this sensationally delicious thanksgiving aroma. When dinner is called my famine family sounds like a pack of hungry elephants running for their prey. Once we finally reach the designated area of the food, we stand around it like planets orbiting the sun. Admiring the turkeys crispy skin shimmer in the light, the mountains of mashed potatoes, the richly colored brown gravy, and that one dish grandma brings but no one ever eats. The dessert is the only thing better than the main course. The orange pumpkin…

Every Thanksgiving, my family gets up early to drive down to New York, where we meet with aunts, uncles, cousins, and my Grandmother. Over the course of the day, delicious smells materialize as heaping mashed potatoes, green beans sautéed with onions and turkey bacon, and sweet potato casserole topped with bubbling marshmallow join the turkey on the serving table as I breathlessly await the early dinner.…

Personally, I’m going to have to say no. The painting does a very horrendous job at depicting the relationship between the Wampanoag Indians and the Pilgrims during the First Thanksgiving. The painting is very simplistic. In other words, it fails to recognize the crucial details of what actually led up to the First Thanksgiving, and what occurred afterward as a result of the Peace treaty between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians. There’s a lot more to the story of Thanksgiving. The painting only focuses on a very small piece of the whole ordeal and fails to capture the big picture of it all.…

It was fairly obvious growing up, that Fact 10 is true. There has never been a full fledged friendship between the two. There has been a few times where feelings have been mutual and at ease, but there has and always will be tension. I was also unaware that the reason the Indians showed up to the feast was because they heard gunshots. They ended up turning around and bringing food to the event. I also did not know that military and political debates went on during the dinner. I just assumed every individual was bonding and having fun with one another's…

The death of my beloved sister plagued our Thanksgiving celebrations for numerous years. Nevertheless, by the matchless grace of God, our beautiful traditions replaced the horrible memory of the last time I saw her alive. In 2000, while living in Okinawa Japan I noticed a paradigm shift in the way we celebrated that wonderful holiday. I spent that particular holiday cooking for my wonderful military family.…

The time has come. After countless weeks of exams, homework, meetings, and random outbursts of crying, it’s time to venture home for a few days of much needed rest, real food, and time with loved ones. Thanksgiving has become a lot more meaningful now that I am away from college. I remember my first Thanksgiving freshman year. I was living the standard movie cliché of coming home for the holidays. I grew a beard, everyone commented on how much more liberal I’ve gotten, I was asked (and begrudgingly answered) how my classes were going, it was all part of the true college experience.…

Today has been a really good day. I am all caught up with my school work. There is literally one more day of school left before we go on Thanksgiving break and I am so excited. Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday and this year even more. Why? It's because my birthday is on the same day! So for Thanksgiving my whole family from both my mom and dad's side are coming over to our house. We are setting up dinner in our outdoor garage so we are going to be busy next week. We are going to be busy setting up decorations, buying the food, and cleaning up. That same week I have 3 dentist appointments and 1 doctor's appointment. Although we are going to be really busy it will be all worth it. My family will be together to celebrate the day of…
