Women in combat In the article, “Military women in Combat: Why making it official matters” composed by Jena McGregor, the author clearly makes a strong stance regarding women in the military. One point being, that at least 14,00 new jobs were made unrestricted, while 250,00 jobs in the military still remain restricted to men only. The main point in the article is difficult to point out at first , because the author seems to be in favor for women’s advancement in the military without combat and gives example to support her argument.…

“Flirting with Disaster: An Argument Against Integrating Women into the Combat Arms,” by Ivan Shook argues that women should not be able to join the infantry, it is not biased to a certain gender but explains why women’s contribution in the army is not of best interest to the nation. I can agree with his claim because I believe women do not have the same force capability as men, and in active duty it can be a disadvantage to the team. Shooks’ word choice and usage of ethos creates credibility of the article and his argument. He is apathetic towards the subject and seems well informed with the negative effects of having women in the armed forced and used it to imply his position. The author is not in conversation with a specific audience, but…

Throughout the United States, sexism is a defining role in the choices that are made concerning who can and cannot perform a certain task the most efficient and safe. Fighting on the front line, in a Combat Unit, is one of those tasks that certainly takes special skills and integrity that not many people possess. Throughout reading and analyzing Coed Combat Units—A Bad Idea on All Counts, many informative, thought-provoking, and straight forward points were addressed concerning women working along-side of men on the front line in the United States Military. While growing up and still to this day, I have always believed that men should be the only ones fighting for our great country, no because a woman cannot keep up, but because men were basically built to fight in the military.…

In “Arms and the Women,” Collins argues that, considering how far America has already come with equal rights as a whole, women should now have total equality to men in the military. Collins opens her column by looking back on the era when women were first allowed into the military- a time when letting them hold a gun was still out of the question. She then moves to a discussion of the current state of the issue; how much has changed, and the question of if more rights should be given. Collins closes her argument with a reflection of the positive effects of women in the military, and a hope to continue the movement of allowing women to participate in all combat.…

Military” she speaks on the first U.S. women soldiers, U.S. women in the world wars, Women's Role in War Changes in Late 20th Century, and Women in the U.S. Military Today. Her article is speaking on difference of women in the military over time. Wood reveals us that during the Revolutionary War, some women were in combat but they disguised themselves as men and enlisted under other names to not be recognized as a female. Also during World War I was the first time the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps allowed women to enlist. With their eager to be equals more than 12,000 enlisted and worked at various jobs.…

But why you ask? Here are just a few things people might say to argue against women being able to cooperate in combat duties. Opposing side: There's always the risk of a woman getting pregnant. They've had woman getting pregnant right before deployment or finding out during their deployment and have to get shipped back immediately. Me: Yeah, if a woman was serious about her job, she would take better precautions before going out. If anyone does get pregnant, neither the man nor the woman is ready for the job then. Opposing side: They don't have the strength. What if they were going out into battle and one of their men collapsed, and couldn't get up on his own. Not only would they be able to pick them up, there's like 30 more pounds of equipment on them. Me: They don't let women with no strength out into combat. They get training, a lot of training, and only the strong, smart, fast women get sent…

Times are changing; Today’s military is facing its own internal battle. This fight is called equality to all men and women. Today these organizations find themselves face to face with a lingering decision that has been looming over its head for decades. Should the military allow women in combat arms units? There are many people who feel that this will create problems such as gender roles confusion, woman are not physically or mentally built for these jobs, and that men will not be able to control themselves around women in a combat setting. While others feel that there should not be any limitations set on women because of their genetic makeup; however there are some women who are stronger than some men. Also, that men should know how to conduct themselves around women and saying so is outrageous because there are many women who are serving in a support occupation are on the front line with men every day in today’s conflicts.…

Today, one of the biggest debates over women’s rights is the one over females being in the infantry. The world is changing and with that comes a lot more responsibility for policy makers, and there is a great debate over women being on the front lines. Women have been in the Military for quite some time, but not in a front line type of role. I can see both sides of the argument; the one that wants people to broaden their views and accept women in the infantry, and the other side that sees at as more of a male type of position. There are many pros and cons to the Military allowing women in combat positions, and I believe that while women should be allowed to have a chance in the infantry, the standards need to be the same whether it is a male or female.…

Women’s rights in the military has been an issue since the early 1840s, but has become a significant and highly debated issue in recent years. America, being a newly established country, had new rights and the freedom of religion, which made it easy to incorporate equal right for women. Speaking from personal opinion, and according to the natural law of man and woman of the Catholic Church, woman being drafted into the military would be considered out of role.…

    Women Combat Roles

I agree with the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s allowance of women to be in combat position. I find it a little sexist that women were denied the chance to not have combat roles. In the article, “Pentagon Removes Ban on Women in Combat” by Ernesto Londono of The Washington Post, it says, “Panetta announced a lifting of the ban on female service members in combat roles, a watershed policy change that was informed by women’s valor in Iraq and Afghanistan and that removes the remaining barrier to a fully inclusive military.” I think that women are just as capable as men. Even if their bodies aren’t built as strong and men, they have determination and can do so many things, even better than some men.…
