Abstract: Coffee possesses normal sexual propagation behaviour and exhibits various characters in a large population. The work on the extent of variation is very limited and not well understood. In this context a study was undertaken during
2008-2011 to study the monohybrid segregation pattern in F2 population of C. arabica cv. ‘Cauvery’x (C. congensis x C. canephora var. robusta) established at Coffee Research Sub Station, Chettalli, Kodagu District, Karnataka in the year 2002.
The results revealed that coffee varieties grown under Indian conditions possessed dependent and independent characters.
The dependent characters followed the independent assortment along with closely associated characters and expressed

The rosette form of the B. rapa is caused by a single gene mutation that causes the plant to be shorter in relation to the standard plant form. The shortness is due to a deficiency in gibberellins. Gibberellins are hormones that stimulate stem elongation, and trigger the germination of seeds (Campbell and Reece, 2008). The mutant plants in turn germinate slowly, have delayed or incomplete…

The seeds need to be germinated and then grown for a length of time sufficient to determine and measure the effect of the mutations on the plant phenotypes. By measuring various characteristics of the growth rates of the germinated seeds, as well as performing experiments to determine the relative amounts of chlorophyll present, we should be able to scientifically describe the effects of the different mutations. Using the total number of the different phenotypes from our class results, we need to determine the type of inheritance pattern that the mutations show.…

The tallness of the plant which is said to be the most overpowering feature was said to the dominant trait while the shortness was known as the recessive trait. The results did not vary whether a male plant was used or a female plant. This investigation of Mendel’s took more than eight years to finish and it almost included 30,000 plants or more.…
