Animal testing on cosmetics should be banned. People are put in jail all the time for abusing their pets, but people are never put in jail for inhumane testing of cosmetics and other pharmaceuticals on these same animals. I have done a lot of research on animal testing and methods we can use that are more effective and don’t use animals through high school in my free time because of curiosity, so I know a lot of random facts about the harmful nature of this and alternative methods. Animals are being tortured to “help” make better medicine and, the majority of the time does not affect people the same way as animals. Due to advanced technology, scientists have found many new options for testing that avoid animal cruelty. Over the years scientists have found testing on Lab-grown cells and organs to be a great alternative to animal testing. This is commonly used for testing cosmetics and some believe if this method continues to develop, animal testing will eventually decrease in popularity and be seen as unnecessary. Another option is human clinical tests. These tests consist of humans voluntarily trying new drugs, biological products, and medical devices. Although there are risks of the experiment causing harm or injury, keep in mind that these clinical tests are voluntary and us humans have the choice, unlike…

Animal testing has been going on for a couple of years now. Scientists use animal testing as a form of “safe” testing. According to Humane Society International, animal testing is, “Procedures performed on living animals for purposes of research into the basic biology and diseases, assessing the effectiveness of new medicinal products, and testing the human health and/or environmental safety of consumer and industry products such as cosmetics, household cleaners, food additives, pharmaceuticals and industrial/agro-chemicals. (1)” Many companies use animal testing because it is easier, or more ethical, to…

Some may say that animals are the next best thing to a “whole-body” system, but animals have no say in what happens to them, thus making them the best thing to a whole-body system. Humans have a whole-body system as well, but no tests are done on them, because they have a say so. However, what people in the society do not know, is that animals are not the same as humans which then leads to inaccurate test data and false information. “94 percent of drugs that pass animal tests fail in human clinical trials.” (Animal Testing) This quote clearly states that testing on animals is innacurate, giving humans false information and proving that it is completely pointless and inhumane. There are many different ways to perform tests without using animals. Scientists are using bacteria and petri dishes and comparing and contrasting and finding out more information than they ever have by harming the…

Cosmetic tests performed on animals include dropping chemicals in the animal’s eyes. Animal cruelty is when someone hurts an animal or does not care for an animal responsibly. Animal testing is basically that, so, technically, animal testing is animal abuse. Animals should not be experimented on because the testing is somewhat like torture and they are innocent. Although huge developments have been made with animal testing, about 90% of successful animal testing is not successful when used on humans.…

In fact, nearly 50 non-animal tests have been validated for use for, cosmetics and animal testers can use computer models. There are many alternatives, so why don’t we use them? There probably less expensive too. Also cosmetics could use ingredients that are already known to be safe. Cosmetics could use those ingredients that probably would be more reliable than testing on innocent animals. Equally important Europe has led the way by banning all animal testing in cosmetic products. Europe has chosen a more human path, at least for cosmetics why don’t we join them? Clearly There is an…

Many people today can say they love their pet, whether it is a dog, a cat, a rabbit, or fish. Little do we actually think about the animals suffering to the torture of cruel animal testing that goes on behind the scenes of the company’s we love. Maybelline, Head and Shoulders, and Clorox are all companies that test on animals, yet are still supported by the thousands of people that buy and use their products. I believe the main reason people continue to support companies that perform animal testing is because society today is not informed or educated about the severity of animal testing. People do not know or care to research if a company performs animal testing. Besides consumers keeping these companies alive and running, animal testing is not humane or morally right. It has been scientifically proven that animals can to a certain extent feel pain (Tell Me if it Hurts: Investigating Whether Animals Feel Pain by Caroline…

These modern methods include sophisticated tests using human cells and tissues, also known as in vitro methods, advanced computer-modeling techniques often referred to as in silico models, and studies with human volunteers (PETA). The techniques have been more accurate and possibly end up achieving the same scientific aim. Cosmetic corporations are probably the ones who might need to use other methods. Using the cells and tissue of humans cells can be non-expensive and can provide the scientists with information specifically relating to humans. Computer models and simulations help by looking at virtual human organs and study the human body structure, functions, and reactions Microdosing has also decreased animal testing.…
