Animal Farm Windmill Speech
Greetings comrades, I stand here today to present to you all, my reasons for the construction of the windmill. In this speech I make sure that the benefits of building the windmill are clear to each and every one of you.
A few days ago, I was outside walking around the farm when I noticed a small knoll in the long pasture, not far from the farm buildings (35). I discovered that it was the highest point of the farm and thought to myself; ‘This would be the perfect place to build a windmill.’ The windmill will be used to generate electricity through a dynamo by using energy from the wind. I have learnt this information from the trusty books I have read so I can assure you that this project will not fail.
Comrades, I do not deny that the construction of the windmill will be a difficult process, stone will have to be quarried and built into walls and the sails will have to be made, but if we all contribute our time and efforts, I can assure you that the construction will be done within a year. And once the windmill has been built, we will have the power of electricity. Electricity, means heated and lighted stalls in winter, a chaff cutter and even an electric milking machine. Imagine all of the time that will be saved, in fact you will only be required to work three days a week instead of the six days that Napoleon will make you work. Imagine all the spare time one would have from only having to work three days a week. The machines will do your work for you while you are at leisure, perfecting your conversation skills or improving your minds. I can guarantee that without the windmill, Napoleon will have you all working six or even up to seven days a week working like slaves, spending your valuable time doing things that my machines will do for you.
Now comrades, I understand that we are in need of food at the moment, however you must understand that the windmill will serve far more beneficial for the farm in the long term. Once the windmill has been completed, we will

Not only this, but “the farmers profit margin dropped from 35% in the 1950 's to about 9% today.” (Mckibben, 54) This means that “to generate the same income as it did in 1950, a farm today would need to be roughly four times as large.” (Mckibben, 55) As a result of this perpetual growth and centralization, problems like “huge sewage lagoons, miserable animals, vulnerability to sabotage and food-born illness”(mckibben, 61) have become commonplace. Not only this, but “we are running out of the two basic ingredients we need to grow food on an industrial scale: oil and water.” (Mckibben, 62) The situation has become so dire that “we are now facing a near simultaneous depletion of the underground aquifers which have been responsible for the unsustainable, artificial inflation of food production.” At this point of realization, Mckibben begins indulging the reader in a large number of facts that promote a more localized form of farming as the solution to a seemingly endless number of issues. Initially the point is raised that “sustainable agriculture leads to a 93% increase in per-hectare food production.” (Mckibben, 68) The next idea raised is that, “since World War 1, it has been cheaper to use…

“The Birds and the Bees”, If you haven’t given “The talk” you’ve probably received it. I remember my mom bought me The Birds and the Bees book from a yard sale and I was mortified that I was supposed to be reading it. Naturally, I pretended to read the book for a week and then tried to hide it away in my attic. At age 11, I wasn’t exactly and expert at hiding things so it was just thrown onto an open shelf in my attic. Little did I except my 8 year old sister to be going into the attic for any reason; getting up there requires being able to reach the pull hook on the ceiling then climbing up the 45 degree angled ladder. I heard a screech from the attic, I ran up and to find my sister sitting there with a horrified look on her face as if she just witnessed a murder. I have a look of shock on my face while I’m bombarded with questions, “What the heck is this? Why do we have this book? Why is this so graphic? I think I might have gone blind! What is this?”. She never let’s me forget about how much I traumatized her. Talking to kids about the taboo topics of sex, racism, and…

Language can control and manipulate situations in many ways. In the book "Animal Farm" situations are twisted and turned around with the use of language and propaganda, thus being done so by a pig named Squealer. Propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. Squealer can talk his way out of everything, but why he can do this is because of his outstanding use of clear and precise language.…

Some are concerned about the visual effect it has on farms while others are all for the idea due to the money in royalties they receive for having wind farms and turbines on their land. Turbines take up around one percent of farmer’s land which allows farmers to still go about harvesting crops and ranching. Then some question, is it realistic to believe that one-day wind energy could run our cities, schools, and farms? Based on my experiences, I believe that we could run fully of of wind energy. I already saw so many advances within the past few years such as equipment and placement of wind turbines, that with a few more years we could completely run off of wind. This relates to many of the other reading such as Diamonds because the other reading describes some of the effects that are happening around the world, such as, climate conditions and lack of harvestable soil and wind energy can help solve those…

There was a specific feeling about today, an indescribable feeling that was felt all throughout the farm.
